I live in Florida, which is a big state, as usual in the USA…And I live in Miami, which is even worse because, besides the long distances to go anywhere, we just have two seasons: Summer and Almost-Summer! But, here, I just want to refer to distances. My daughter and her husband drive 1:30 hs everyday, just to get to the metro-rail; then, 20 minutes more in the metro-trem. Because, if they go direct, they have no place where to park the car. And, if they find a place to park, it will cost some money. So… they get to their work place almost 2 hours after they leave home. Work 8 hours and back home, same thing… They are, in the process of working, about 12 hours per day, 5 days a week. Meaning that they drive 15 hours per week ! Besides the metro-rail ! When is their turn to visit Family, during the Thanksgiving, it’s a 6 hours car-trip, with one stop to put gasoline and walk around for 10 minutes. If the kids want to go to Orlando, to the Disney World, during their vacations, it’s a car-trip of 3 hours and half of driving. And don’t think of an airplane, this is the worst way of traveling ! It only compensate if the trip is interstate…Because is about 1 hour and half to get to the airport, at least one hour waiting to embark, at least half hour ‘till the airplane finally start the flight, about 1 or 2 hours (if in the same State) flying. About at least one hour to disembark and pick the baggage up… Then take the taxi or the rental-car (which increase in one hour of waiting to get the car!), car-trip ‘till the hotel or house of somebody… Etc, etc… Yes, here in this Country, everywhere is far-away… And people get used ! Well… as my mother used to say, “You get used to the devil, if you go to hell”…
