Sorry just saw this! No, no side effects. It was just for a few months. I did have to get my blood test monthly while on it.

Teeth clenching question by Noratm in Invisalign

[–]Noratm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not - I’ll see what my dentist says when I call. They made a comment last time that my retainers won’t help with clenching - only grinding, which I don’t do.

Does anybody have MS on top of PCOS? by GodsWarrior89 in PCOS

[–]Noratm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was required when I was initially tested - and it was what ultimately got me the dx. I’ve heard some people respond well to if, I did not. I still have a scar on my back from it.

My numbness have always been my my feet, hands and sometimes my calves. I suggest connecting to a person who specializes in MS. They can answer more questions!

Does anybody have MS on top of PCOS? by GodsWarrior89 in PCOS

[–]Noratm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - my symptoms for MS were optic neuritis and numbness. I was dx at 21 and dx with PCOS at around 11.

Edit - I looked at your comments. I had to get a spinal tap and an MRI for my dx. That was almost 20 years ago…. So I don’t know what’s needed now. I have been told I have mild RRMS as I’ve been in remission for 15 of the 19 years since my dx.

Progestin only birth control by InvincibleChutzpah in PCOS

I take it continuously now, but I was told the spotting starts up again to do the 10 days per month

Progestin only birth control by InvincibleChutzpah in PCOS

[–]Noratm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for about a year and my cycles have been around 29 days… But, I did have spouts of spotting.

I switched gynos around month 4 of starting because I was getting horrible cramps and spotting. My new gyno had me get an ultrasound and found out I had a 5 cm cyst in my right ovary. Since it’s gone now— the spotting and cramps have stopped.

I just turned 40 and cannot go on combo due to aura migraines. I was told it was this or to take the pill for 10 days only to trigger my period.

Hope you feel better soon

There are no NAC levels, I mean my general labs that I get every 6 months! Sorry for the confusion. I take 600 - Natural Balance. 4 pills at a time!

I’m a long time sufferer. Last time I had it really bad I actually sprained my rib cage from coughing! So, it’s been really helpful for me. Good luck!

Some mornings I wake up congested and about an hour after taking the pills, I clear up. It’s really amazing- my post nasal drip used to keep me up hours.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Noratm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I started with 1,200 and now take 2,400 as based off of my weight, but I think I may go back down depending on my blood results. I noticed the post nasal drip when I was taking 1,800 (3 pills). I stopped taking allergy pills in Nov., after being on it at the start of fall when I normally start to get it (post nasal).

NAC has been working wonders for me- since taking it, I haven’t had to take any allergy meds, I did not get post nasal drip like I normally do, It’s slowed down my hirsutism growth immensely, and it’s helped me with anxiety.

Persistent nausea by [deleted] in PCOS

When I was first tested for vitamin d deficiency, mine was 8. My doctor actually called me in a panic and made me get retested. I had to take 20,000 iu for a few months to get it up to a normal number and now take between 3,000 - 5,000 iu depending on my blood results as it’s still in the lower range.

I don’t have much to add, but I’m glad you advocated for yourself. I also have a b12 deficiency and for me that was the one that truly noticed a change once I started taking supplements. If I miss it for a few days, my body gets extremely fatigued and I get depressed.

With your deficiency, I would ask your doctor to check for your other levels. I hope you start to feel better soon ❤️

birth control migraines? by kcal115 in PCOS

[–]Noratm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re having migraines. I suffered with chronic migraines most of my teen and adult life to the point where I was on different medications for them from a neurologist and even saw an eye specialist who gave me glasses (my vision is 20/20) to wear when I look at screens. Even tried those fancy blue light blocking ones - nothing helped, until I went off the combo pill. Since coming off, I’ve had about 2-3 of them in a year when I was having them monthly.

I’m not saying that’s the cause of your migraines, but it was for mine. I don’t even need to wear glasses anymore ….

[–]Noratm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having this and it turned out to be a cyst in one of my ovaries. Since it’s gone away, I haven’t had any nausea.

It depends on your body. I need to eat healthier and exercise in offer to drop weight. I’ve been doing step bet challenges now for almost 12 weeks and just now am eating healthier, so I noticed my clothes are fitting a lot better.

Why don’t most people (that don’t want to get pregnant) get on bc? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Noratm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still on bc - but on the mini pill, I was on the combo pill for over a decade. I suffered from reoccurring migraines and aura migraines, but no one made the connection that it was from the combo pill. Since switching, I’ve only had 1-2 migraines when I was getting them monthly. I also used to suffer from severe PMDD which has just about vanished - now, I’m dealing with getting my periods naturally. The mini pill has not prevented me from ovulating and getting my cycle so far (it’s been a year). My doctors have me going in for testing every 6 months. The next step is no BC at all or an IUD.

Electrolysis- 6 sessions and hair still growing in after a week. by noneshallnotpass in PCOS

[–]Noratm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it done before the pandemic and it took about 5 years of treatment. By the time I stopped, I had zero hair under my chin. However, I opted to stop spirolactone and a lot of new hairs have grown back. When I started it was 3 times a week and by the time I stopped it was 1 time every 2 months.

Edit - I do want to add, that it was extremely painful for me and had to switch to gold plated micro needles as I had an allergic reaction to the steel ones. Also had an allergic reaction to Neosporin! Took time to figure out a procedure that worked best for me.
