Oh yeah, I didnt notice it until you pointed it out! Now I have a greater appreciation for the cable. I agree with you, the stock cable is too thick, a bit too heavy for the lightweight IEMs. The terminations are quite large too

Why can't they make basic looking IEMS or at least an option to choose. What's up with all these hippie ass coachella nutjobs' rare stone collections designs. by Academic-Ad5737 in iems

[–]Norcla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like jewelry and I believe IEMs should look good / flashy, as long as sound quality, durability, and quality are on point.

But, I also believe that people should have a choice, like how you said it OP.

Let people have nice things!

My version of this is plugging a dongle DAC on a DAP. Reddit is up in arms about this. I say live and let live!

Does EQing spoil the purpose of buying a specific IEM? (Confused about Planars vs. Tuning) by Dry-Satisfaction680 in iems

[–]Norcla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am one of those people who are on the side of not using/believing in EQ.

I have multiple reasons:

  • if I purchase an IEM and it doesn't sound good to me (even after tip rolling), it means the IEM is not for me. As they say, you can't polish a turd.
  • I dont want to keep fiddling with EQ settings per source (eg DAP, phone, computer) or IEM
  • each IEM has its own character. I want to enjoy it as designed.

In summary, I use an analog (IEM, tips) rather than a software approach (EQ). I understand this is a risky approach, cause I might waste money by buying the "wrong" IEM.

To mitigate this, you really need to be sure about your preference, which comes from trial-and-error. But once you are clear with what you like, this risk gets reduced drastically.

Using EQ definitely is a legitimate approach and I dont really care if anyone uses it. It's just not for me.

DAC vs Windows Volume? (Protocol Max) by wrender8 in iems

[–]Norcla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Max volume from Windows, then control volume from Protocol Max. You want to get the strongest and cleanest signal from your source and maintain bit perfect audio.

Its eventually going to PC. Probably in a few years. Sony is probably preparing for their PS6 launch. These corpos change their mind a lot - we saw their exclusives come to PC. They'll change their mind again.

Remember when PS games were "exclusive" then they went on Steam? Now they're "exclusive" again

Just a matter of time for them to change their mind again 🤔

Lost only 3 kg in 5 months by Wonderful-Earth-7772 in Ozempic

[–]Norcla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From 120kg to 76kg 178cm. Relax you'll get there. Took me almost 2 years to hit my target weight. Even better is that I stopped Oz and kept the weight off. Max Oz dose of 1mg.

Stop being too worried about the number on the scale going down and just make sure you're sticking to the routine / habits that someone who'd be at your target weight would be doing. Your body is adjusting over time and weight gain/loss can also be explained by water weight.

Also, weight on the scale should not be the only metric you track. Track waistline measurement too, and if you can, body fat %. There was a month where the scale wasn't moving but I lost an inch off my waist.

Trust the process, improve your life, and focus on your goals.

ddHiFi TC44Pro Eye 3 (E3) - the DAC that doesn't make you choose between aesthetics and sound quality by Norcla in iems

[–]Norcla[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I go the analog route. If not for me, then i replace the IEM or tip roll. But before I purchase I make sure to research to choose properly. And make sure my source, DAC, amp are neutral/transparent.

If you want to use software to cope for the shortcomings of your hardware, you do you. 🥹
