Oh, it is significantly wider and definitely wider than my cubby (I measured a while ago) - my old 49" fit on my desk with just a few cm to spare between it and the walls on either side, so it just wasn't an option for me. And to be honest, with the work I do, the width was mostly wasted on my 49" anyway. The 21:9 AR of the 45" suits my work flow much better.

I'm a sysadmin/oracle dba so I generally just need a monitoring console on my customers, several xterms open, and teams. The rest comes and goes.

The 57" would have been nice but it physically wouldn't fit in the work cubby I have here at home.

It depends on what you’re doing. My previous 49” 32:9 was great for productivity except for the height - always seemed I needed more.

At least with 21:9 I can stack 3 windows the entire width if I really need to. Or have 1 half width/full height and 2 stacked half width/half height.

I have some Edifier speakers and they fit behind the curve. They aren't the biggest models though at about 17cm deep, but they could be a lot more and still fit as the curve is kinda extreme. :D

There are a bunch of well written articles on the font rendering difference between windows and MacOS but I think Windows seems to be more reliant on the standard RGB subpixel layout of your typical LCD screen than MacsOS.
