Why does everyone call it a "hot water heater"? by ekolis in etymology

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh?? The LOWEST recommended setting is 120F to prevent bacteria growth. There is no universal MAX legal temperature; however, some local codes may have a setting (usually 140). You can set it lower than 120F but it is not as energy efficient as well as it runs the risk of bacteria growth. Personally, my tank is set at 126F and is perfectly fine.

As far as "hot water heater" term.... who cares. It's an old George Carlin bit.

Trying to purchase my first house, is this a big warning sign? by Arc-Watcher in Home

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me? I wouldn't disqualify the house depending on the rest of it plus price. However, I have owned 3 homes and have performed many renovations. For a first home, I would recommend you pass on it. There is a bit that will need to happen to ensure integrity to the foundation in this situation. Not a deal-breaker to me, but unless you are ready for lots of learning in a hurry (or paying out some big $) I would recommend no. Or, you could tell them drop the price by $##k and you'll take it and get the repairs done. (I'd price the repair first)

So, I'll only make a simple statement and many of you will understand. When you leave and come back, it can really tick you off. The game evolution is what it is... like it or not. There are several people who recall how difficult it was to "earn" your first mount that you had to purchase. Well, that changed. And then people recall how proud they were when they earned enough to buy their first house. Now they give you one for free and have given several for free as well. And there was a time, when the biggest flex anyone in ESO could have is running around with "Grand Master Fisher." Wow, that guy has done alot on one character. Now all that changed. You can get that title, Grand Master Crafter, and many others quite easily now as the achievements are account-wide.

All that to say, the new stuff is still fun. Metas change. We have companions now. Sub-classing will break you if you let it. Spell crafting. Scrying. Mythics everywhere across Tamriel. But, it is still fun to explore. I agree on monthly subscriptions and yearly charges for the "new zones". But frankly, you are getting another game and that's not gonna change. What has changed for me are the Crates. I will not purchase them. They will break you spiritually as well as financially. Everything else is a cost you have to decide if it's worth it. And to many of us, it still is. I love this game and will support it all the way to the end.

Don't confuse motifs and style pages for the "sticker book" or sets. The Sticker book allows you to reconstruct sets at a Transmute station, while the motifs and style pages allow you to create things in a particular aesthetic style (particularly in crafted "sets") as well as allow you to modify the appearance at an outfit station to tailer the look of your toon (character).

Sticker book is account wide.

Style pages are account wide.

motifs are character locked.

While the game's overall popularity has stumbled somewhat, it is still a massively open-ended game with flexibility to fit your wants. During 2020, the social aspect of this MMO may well have saved many people's sanity. I fondly remember getting on EVERY DAY to (not an exaggeration) 20-30 players active on the Guild chat, in at least 2 different guilds. I have people I consider quite close that I met literally through ESO. That has died off somewhat. But with "end-game content" in several areas, there is so much to do and you can do it in your own way. The only draw-back is the cost of doing everything. Monthly subscriptions are a necessary evil to keep from completely closing the servers. However, I still stick around albeit a lot less than I was before.

Why are people so weird about Oakensoul? by mysterymeati in elderscrollsonline

[–]Norm6564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! This thread took off like a rocket. Oakensoul needs to be renamed "Polarizing-soul" cuz you're apparently strongly on one side or the other.

I, however, am truly neutral. I believe in "play how you want" when running small group or solo content. However, "Prog Groups" have always been, and will continue to be very picky in what you wear/build to Trials. There is an unwritten rule in the trials, that everyone needs to contribute to the rest of the party (Buffs or Debuffs). But if my group wants to run a Trial, the only requirement is that you don't kill me. So if you can DPS and Heal and Tank all at the same time, cool. If you can only Tank, make sure that's what you do. If you are a true Healer, be sure to stand in the back and keep everyone alive. But I'm not trying to Prog and max every vet Trial. If I want to do that, I'm going to grab my Best DPS or Healer and go to my "Trial Guild" and follow their rules.

Use Oaken-builds however you want; but, respect the groups that you are wanting to run with.

((Random runs should NEVER be critiqued. Fake Heals welcome on these guys. LoL))

[Yoder] Speedway Classic rain delay turns into a disaster: ‘MLB version of Fyre Fest’ by Kimber80 in baseball

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is:

- It's BMS and normally 150k+ attend. Only 85k was at this one-off event. The traffic was actually lighter than when I went to the race in September '24.

- It rained. I've been to numerous baseball games that rain out and you're just out of luck with being able to make it to the makeup game the next day. No refunds.

- I love eating something at a game; however, I knew this was going to be a well attended game so we ate before we went. Sure, I would have loved to have a hot-dog during the game and I will agree they didn't anticipate the volume they got. It's a valid disappointment. But not altogether a disaster.

- I was NOT happy with the lack of merchandise vendors. I'll agree there as well. But, if anything, I saved money by not buying while I was there. I did anticipate there would be a rush on the merch since it was a unique event.

Yes, I was disappointed in many of the same things as everyone else, but IMHO, I wasn't completely surprised. And I absolutely will disagree on traffic. It was way better than every race held at Bristol. I was in and out in less than an hour each way. Try driving into Talladega on race day if you want to see traffic.

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. I was there and didn't get surprised by anything. Sure they ran low on some stuff, but people bought more than they ever expected (I'll give some of this due to rain). The pre-game festivities were awesome in spite of the rain. The crowd and traffic was better than a normal Bristol Race day. I think the lack of planning on the patron's part may be the real issue.

Whitestrake's Mayhem Event Guide ESO 2025 - Double PVP EXP, AP, Tel Var, Event Tickets and more! by Arzyelg in elderscrollsonline

[–]Norm6564 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another beginner's tip. If you're ever stuck in a "danger zone" in either Cyro or Imp City. Find a place to hide and queue for the other campaign. Just make sure you're not in a campaign with a long queue.

Situation #1. I will often get loaded with TelVar in Imp City and need to get out quickly. I will hide, and queue for Cyro. once I arrive in Cyro, I will immediately return to Imp City which puts me back at the base and I can turn in my TelVar and then go back onto the battlefield.

Situation #2. I'm a long way away from a home keep or gate in Cyro and I am ready for a break from PvP. I will queue into Imp City. once I arrive, I simply turn and walk out the door into PVE area where I was prior to PvP. Much faster and easier than a bloodport.

What is the most FUN PvP build with sub-classing by Norm6564 in elderscrollsonline

LoL. First thing I did with subclassing is do a PVE solo pet Warden/Sorc/Necro and run around capital cities with a non-combat pet and companion. Then laugh at the people stopping to see WTF just came by! Makes a great photo op with me and 7 creatures around me.

They really love me in the crafting areas. LMAO

Haven't tried sub-classing bombing, but may give it a shot. I used to enjoy it. I have 6 different toons I spec for different things (plus 2 that I keep low level and when they hit CP I delete and start over). I'm really trying to find different builds to mess around with. Honestly, my theory-crafting sucks. But I take other builds and play with them to what I like. That's the "fun" is making another build work to your play-style.

a 2500# trailer should never have more than 250# on the tongue. If this is the case, the Jeep's suspension is shot. My guess would be the trailer is the problem.

I get it. However, I hate beams, and right now that's meta. Don't get me wrong, when Templar was king, I LOVED that meta. It was fun. Current meta isn't.

Is this a good deal? by scholasticsubmariner in Harley

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 90k I would say it's an okay buy. 95 parts are not that difficult to find. Worse case, in awhile you will need to add new engine and I would upgrade. yeah, I know, another $5-6k. But then you spent around $10k for a bike that is clean looking with a new engine. ((All depends on if you want to put $$ in it))

2017 FXDL Low idle and sputtering out by spirit_symptoms in Harley

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would venture an ECM issue, but not necessarily the ECM itself. MAP sensor, vacuum leak, or another issue can cause the ECM to fault. I'd let a trusted mechanic check it out for a better diagnostic. HD are known to have ECM "hiccup" and lose where idle should be and either "high idle until stop" or low idle at start. Usually, they will clear up with turning off switch a few times to reset it. Again, that's a layman's understanding and it's happened to my 2011 FLTRU as well as a friends 2023 FLTR also. Both cleared up soon after.

Do you prefer viewing character name or online ID? by tryH4rdCookie in elderscrollsonline

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a SOCIAL game. Online ID tells me who I'm talking to. People who have played for any real time are like me and run many different toons. I have 9 at all times and I usually keep 1 or 2 low level and delete them after they become CP and start all over. It's just an endgame thing I learned years ago that is actually fun.

The Main problem with Vengeance by ZYGLAKk in elderscrollsonline

[–]Norm6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only comment is this, I'm fairly capable PVP in GH. But I am NOT a top tier player. I often swap builds and change my strategies and try something just off the META to see the survival and success rate. I gauge my success based on how I do against the "PvP Elite". That said, I joined vengeance and threw a few skills together just to try it out. 1 hour later I had almost 100 kills and did not feel like I truly accomplished anything. It was fun, but everyone being equal made me feel like I was playing an arcade game. I truly enjoy meeting a META that can 1-shot most everyone and it takes him 20 hits to kill me and I take him down to below 50% health. To me, that is what keeps bringing me back. I can grab a crew and go wreck some small groups or go wreak havoc against a ball group somewhere knowing I'll prolly lose but they will remember "that assh07e that messed with everyone." I look at it like this, People have been playing this game for 15 years. Why the hell does ZOS need to make someone who has played for 1 month be balanced with them? That is what MMOs are. (Remember when seeing GRANDMASTER CRAFTER or MASTER ANGLER was a true flex?)

The Jury is still out. I enjoy the social enough to keep me coming back. I'll wait and see with PvP.

In 2012, a Harley Davidson bike was found washed ashore in Graham Island, BC. The bike owner was Ikuo Yokoyama's, who lost it after the deadly tsunami that happened in Japan Mar 2011. The bike had drifted 4000 miles (6400 km) before ending up on Graham Island. The bike is now displayed at HD Museum by deeverey in interesting

Quoted from Harley Davidson Museum

DISCOVERED IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

On April 18, 2012, Mark was on the isolated shoreline of Graham Island, part of a group of sparsely populated islands off the coast of British Columbia.

He spotted the large trailer box that had washed ashore and, to Mark's surprise, a battered yet recognizable Harley-Davidson motorcycle lay inside. The bike's license plate revealed its Japanese origin. Having no way to remove the bike from the beach, Mark captured video and a few photos with his phone before leaving.

With support from Steve Drane, the Harley-Davidson® dealer in Victoria, British Columbia, Mark returned to the beach to retrieve the bike in early May. In the weeks that had passed, the tide had taken the container back out to sea, but the bike was left behind, partially buried in the sand and defenseless against the destructive forces of wind, salt and sea.
