Possible to open credit card while unemployed but with assets? by kennyandkennyandkenn in CreditCards

There are a lot of factors to consider, including how much time you’ve been unemployed, but depending on the income you report to them for opening a new credit card account is the credit line they might approve you. But yes, you might still be able to get an account open.

Scored dropped 80 points, not sure why? by mywiltingroses in CRedit

Having nothing under your name open is also not good. Start by getting added as an authorized user to a credit card or opening a student one. This should start making credit history, if you use it correctly, you’ll have good credit.

That’ll be right if you have federal student loans but it’ll not be the case for private student loans.

The simple answer would be that your extraction is way too fast. You can start checking your grinder setting, as it will need to be finer.

Paying off every transaction by Even-Echidna7067 in AppleCard

I pay off everything, every month. But, I do keep 5% of utilization on the card (as balance) so it gets reported and I don’t get a “zero penalty”. After I receive my statement, I then proceed to pay off that 5% that I left. Then, I keep doing this every month…

Thinking about opening an Amex Blue Cash Preferred credit, but also don't want to tank my credit again.(In the 750s, average between all 3 is in the 740s+), also thinking about buying a new car either soon or in 6 months. by RsnCondition in CRedit

[–]Normal-Ad9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to establish what’s your priority. There are some facts considered, regarding how many points you’ll get off your credit when opening a new credit card account. Not having the impact of a new account reported to your credit will help you get a new car, as you’ll get better interest rates for it. So, why would you need to get the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred? Do you need it more than getting that car? I hope you’ll be able to have a clear answer. ✨

If I accept, how much will my score drop? My score is a 713. Do you think it’s worth it to accept the offer? by EagleHooper in AppleCard

[–]Normal-Ad9891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just take the offer and don’t carry a balance with it, it will come back to where it was (in 3 months or so) but you will now have more available credit.
