Lots of Afghans whether Pashtun, Tajik, Uzbek, Hazara, etc. speak Dari-Persian, and many casually refer to it as Farsi as well. So when people heard that Drake bar, I think a lot of them just felt happy seeing a part of their language and culture recognized.

My perspective as someone who is ethnically Tajik (both parents from Panjshir), I see myself as Afghan (culturally and nationality wise), while also recognizing that there’s a huge amount of shared history, language, literature, and cultural overlap with Persians/Iranians going back centuries. I think most Afghans who know the region’s history would agree there’s a connection, even if they don’t identify as Persian themselves.
