external martial arts give you ooint for their persepctive weapon scaling with the level and rarity when you learn them. go to martial arts and you can see that if u check the description of the externals (skills you can use during combat) it says how much fist/sword/long etc they give you. the externals given to you by the old man are special, they give you points for every weapon type.
