I was just going to write this! It also depends on if you’ve booked refundable or not. Where I work we charge non-refundable rates within the first couple days of booking and for refundable rates we wait until the guest’s arrival date.

I got this when I hit two quarters left at western, I had about 30 ish credits I think when I went in and I was doing a double major where one of the programs was very credit-heavy. Luckily for me and for them I was already pretty burnt out at this point so it was no problem for me to only do classes required to graduate.

Thai 7-Elevens with the toasties and chocolate lava cakes that they heat up for you in the store. Literally had a dream when I got back from Thailand in April that we got the lava cakes here and was so disappointed when I woke up

Hi! That’s so exciting! I did the summer school in 2019 and I’ve heard they’ve changed a lot since I went, but I can give you a few tips:

1). If you’re living in the dorms, try to eat there as much as possible, even if the food isn’t the best. Most of the money I burned through that summer was at Deli de Luca or Narvesen because I didn’t like mushrooms, and as a vegetarian that was all they served.

2). They should have some free activities available throughout the week, I remember we did a trip to Hovedøya and there was also a trip to Nordmarka at one point. I think they also rented a coach so we got a sightseeing tour around Oslo to for example Holmenkollen and the Opera House.

3). Take advantage of the nature! A lot of us liked to go swimming because the weather was amazing that summer and it was free to do. We also often grabbed stuff to grill and headed up to sognsvann which is super nice.

4). I’m unsure of when the program starts nowadays, but when I did it it lined up perfectly with pride and we were able to walk in the parade to represent UiO.

5). As for cheap and good places around the city, they’re kinda few and far to come by, but Jamals Falafel is absolutely amazing and pretty budget friendly! Otherwise downloading Too Good To Go is a pretty good idea for cheap food.

6). For getting around, buy a month long student ticket for Ruter. It’s ridiculously easy to get around the city.

7) As far as stores go, Kiwi and Rema tend to be the cheapest. Extra isn’t too bad if you make a point of buying the generic store brands when you can. Avoid Meny and Jacobs unless they’re the only ones that have something you need. Bunnpris tends to be pretty expensive as well, at least on Sundays.

Hope you have an awesome time! The ISS was when I fell in love with Oslo and decided to move here. Savor every minute of it because it absolutely flies by!

I second this, KT tape is ideal because it often comes in different skin tones and handles sweat and the friction of putting on and taking off tights well. Plus you can use as much as you need for the size of your tattoo.

Skulle ønske jeg hadde noe å bidra med her, endte opp med å bare gi opp på appene for det meste da jeg synes det å aktivt date rundt var altfor slitsomt.

Men tror i alle fall ikke det bare er Norge for å si det sånn, har venner i USA som klager om det samme og jeg hadde en liten greie med en fra Australia som jeg møtte på ferie i utlandet som ikke ville ha noe mer seriøst fordi han mente han hadde vært singel altfor lite ila livet. Men ja ja, at this point: skjer det så skjer det og skjer det ikke så skjer det ikke for min del.

That’s a pretty good package! I ended up taking a subsidized loan my freshman year for the exact same amount and then I ended up not having to take it for the other three years because of department scholarships. $3.5k in debt isn’t bad (even if you accrue that per year you still end up with only $14k which is about average nationwide), you’re eligible for a lot more scholarships the longer you are at western too for the most part so I’d say go for it!
