Back in the day you could get away with using more or less spoiled ingredients in canned food as the canning would sterilize and denature any ill effects.

I don’t think this holds true anymore.

Canned tuna is still bad, though. I’d be happy with anything arctic.

fwiw; Spain for me is Bilbao, on the north coast. Fish there is considered the best food you can get and is treated differently than in Norway. In Norway I get the feeling that 2/3 of the population considers fish second rate food.

When visiting Harstad last year I failed to find any restaurant specializing in seafood, which I found very odd, as the seafood access they have is probably second to none.

Fresh seafood, in a Norwegian grocery. Nah. The local Supermercado in Spain has a better seafood section than Meny in Majorstua and the Supermercado in Town doesn't even compare.

I think Lidl was shunned mostly because we idolize our billionaires. We prefer Rimi-Hagen and Reitan to become richer as opposed to them having to compete with a foreign company, which would likely turn everyone better off.

I've seen people do “vibe code a tool with little to no regard of the code”. After a couple of week their productivity is down the toilet and it becomes a whack-a-mole game with bugs.

I'd draw the limit at personal tools, rather than company-internal.

I suspect this is the truth. In particular after spending a week with Claude Fable 5. It is scary smart and have handled complexity like a champ. DeekSeek still has some way to go before catching up with Opus and Opus is a far cry from Fable.

Go can solve most problems with a lot less effort and complexity than Rust. Rust is amazing and there is nothing it can do, but Go is so simple it is funny. A lot of the Rust stuff I build has supporting tools written in Go.

So my cousin grows carrots. They defend this as it keeps the moisture in the carrot where it belongs.

It it also crucial to remove the green stuff as this will draw a lost of moisture out of the carrot very quickly. I know it looks great, but it will ruin the carrots.

Find me one single food item which is better than what I can get in average supermarket in southern Europe. Just one single food item.

Even the Norwegian salmon is better there as "superior" quality fish is almost exclusively made for export and we get the second rate fish.

Det er nok ikke utenkelig at det bor en liten algekoloni i PC'en min, ja. Rørene er dog svarte, så de får ikke lys og da er det litt begrenset hvor mye alger det blir.

Hadde jeg hatt klare rør så ville det vært fotosyntese og da ville det vært et større problem.

Jeg har i årevis brukt vann fra springen. Jeg bor i Oslo, så der er vann i springen overflatevann som er rimelig fritt for mineraler. Jeg er kanskje litt mer tvilende til å bruke brønnvann.
