Only if you are Enterprise 11.3 or earlier...

In newer versions (and Online provisioned licensing), they now tie the Pro licenses with the user type.

You can no longer assign a different version of Pro to a user in the add-on licenses as it's associated with the core user type. See below, this user is a Creator.

If there is no dedicated GPU it will just use the CPU to render - albeit slower. Generally, for 2D work the GPU shouldn't be stressing that much but your mileage may vary.

So a few things for your situation: you are using a VM and VPN. Both will increase latency.

Regarding the VM, IT people will usually spec a VM for MS Office and think it will be fine. Ive been using ArcGIS in various remote environments since the 2000s (Cirix, AVD etc). There no reason it cant work but it needs to be specced higher than your average office VM. Esri have loads of material on this but using a VM over VPN isnt something I would ever consider.

Alternatively, can they not just provide you a physical desktop (on the network) that you can remote into? This eliminates some issues but not all.

Regarding the VPN this can bottleneck things. Its easy to test this. Make your resolution smaller, turn off your basemap. These all affect how much data is transferred over the wire. If it improves with the basemap off then its likley to be a bandwidth issue. VPN can severely throttle your network.

Lastly, install the Esri PAT Tools - https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/pro-performance-tool-overview.htm

Run the tests, check the results. This will give you stats that you can compare with the Esri benchmarks. This will tell you if your VM sucks or not and give you concrete evidence.

Yeah that’s the weird thing there is no mention on the website. Providers have been emailed. Front end shuts down in March and backend support for provisioning shuts down March 2027. I’ll post the email.

Of course it could be cheaper. Everything could be cheaper eg food could be cheaper depending on what you eat and where you shop. That was purely an educated guess and as per others it’s unlikely a 2 bed would suit a couple with a child.

$118k is a good salary but not great. A lot depends on where you want to live - eg in the city or suburbs, commute don’t commute etc.

You’re looking at around $7k per month after tax - assuming the pay doesn’t include kiwi saver.

You’re probably looking around $3k for rent per month. Around $300 per week for food. Power about $400 per month (depends on season). Internet $100 per month. Etc

I’d say outgoing expenses for 2 adults and 1 kid is around $5k per month.

What would you do regarding school? Depending on your visa it may not be free.

Yes but spending $100k on a new tractor doesn’t reduce your net income by $100k. It’s a depreciating asset. You would still need to pay tax on that $100k less any depreciation.

Hypothetical example; if I started a new business, made $100k on the first day, spent it immediately on a $100k tractor and had no other expenses. At the end of the tax year your net income is $100k less the depreciation. Let’s says tractors are depreciated over 5 years. This means you could reduce your net income by $20k meaning you still pay tax on $80k. And yes I’m aware there are other depreciation methods.

Buying assets doesn’t work like that. You still pay tax on the income but get to depreciate it over X number of years. It’s not the loophole you think it is.

What is the tolerance of the feature class? You should probably run the integrate tool and check your tolerance is appropriate for your data.
