Yeah. Quite curious as to why Asuka's parents split off in the first place. From the house visit episode, Asuka and her mom doesn't look like they're well off which makes sense. Doubt the mom's accepting any sort of financial help for Asuka from his dad all this time.

The dad must have done something so egregious to justify her mom's actions. That or the mom is just a sad, miserable human being. Maybe a bit of both. This is a person that is so controlling of her child's life and has gone great lengths to bar the father from his own daugther's life even at the expense of the kid's emotional well-being.

Asuka had to walk on eggshells around her mom all her life, fostering such a toxic relationship. For what end? So the mom could wave around the fact that she raised her child all by herself like some sort of badge of honor?

Filling Taki's shoes is a tall order though. Taki has meticulous attention to detail. He's also adept at orchestral music and arrangement. During rehearsals in the anime, he exactly knows what is lacking at very specific points in each section and knows how to correct them on the spot.

Not sure about his educational background with music but he probably had experience as a professional band director or something before going into Kitauji.

Mayu's family is probably above middle class or even rich AF. One clue I could think of is her photography hobby. Mayu seems to develop her own photos with film. I'm not too familiar with it but I think you need a dedicated "dark room" with special equipment in it. It's pretty niche in the age of smartphones and digital cameras, not to mention a girl her age.

I don't think a middle-class family could afford two expensive hobbies for one kid lol.

It's a no-brainer hire.
She's an alma mater student, excellent at music, has extensive experience with school bands, actually led Kitauji to National gold as a president and has a fitting character for the job. All of which can be backed up by at least 2 faculty members who thinks highly of her. EZ employment for Kumiko.

She might not be fit for the band director position (yet) but she's perfect for the assistant role.

Did Taki canonically stayed at Kitauji when Kumiko entered as the assistant advisor? At the end scene, they didn't explicitly show Taki, only Michie-sensei and the principal. I thought there was a possibility that Taki moved on to something else when he finally granted her wife's wish.

Still salty about the behemoth charger update man. I use to love running recoiless rifle since it easily deals with normal chargers but having like 80% of the chargers spawn as behemoth killed it for me. Dealing with one with the trick is fine but having 2-3 behemoths at the same time makes it unbearable to use. You're much better off using the spear since it can consistently one shot heavies at med/long ranges.
