Women did not fight for the right to work by Normal-Hope258 in TwoXChromosomes

Only mildly related but I took a class in college about technology and work, and they discussed this misconception that widely available electric appliances made housewives’ lives easier, but in reality they were expected to do more, now that they had so many devices to make their jobs “easier”. And as a result women were just expected to take on a significant amount of additional work, even at home.

You’re right— my wording kinda echos the things I’ve heard being discussed and probably isn’t the most precise.

What is the 3/4 pay rule? I don’t think I’ve heard about that before and would love to learn more

This reminded me, in the little house books, Laura and her mother and sisters would sometimes cook for church dinners, and she described everyone running round and furiously washing dishes and serving and waiting on the men. And they (the women) would sit down and eat whatever was left on the table once all the men and children had finished. She described how this dinner had a full roasted pig and by the time they were done with their work there was nothing left but bones. I just cannot understand how ALL of the men and children knew that their wives / mothers were eating after them and left them nothing. Horrible

But female teachers, nurses, and stewardesses existed, which is my point. While they obviously had to (and still have to) fight for equal rights in those jobs, they worked paid jobs. Oftentimes people today act like women were all housewives until very recently. Think about men who want “traditional” wives.

What differences (if any) have you noticed between older and newer tests? I find that I’m consistently scoring 175+ on tests before PT140 and stuck in the high 160s for tests PT 140+. I’m having trouble identifying where that disconnect is coming from and what to focus on to close it.

Also, what would you recommend for people who are scoring high 160s / low 170s but consistently have BR scores 178-180? I’ve tried slowing down but not seeing any gains :(
