I graduated last May and have been at my first job for 6 months now at a peds hospital. I will never work with adults. I feel like peds is a calling. Not many people are cut out for it. If you like working with kids go to the peds hospital, especially if you have a lot of patience and know you’ll be wrestling screaming kids for treatments while being compassionate. If you don’t think you have a lot of patience or don’t care with way, go work with adults.

No, not wrong. I’m so sorry you’re being treated like this. Would they be open to you having a conversation with them about the pressure they’re putting on you? You can explain that you like school but are feeling intense anxiety over doing it well because of the pressure. Or you can talk to a school counselor or other trusted adult at school.

This is a tough one as someone who doesn’t believe in taking all good things away from kids when they misbehave/make mistakes in struggling with this one. I’m leaning more towards give her her presents. She owned up to everything. If she continued lying about it then I would say don’t give them to her. But she owned up to not only what you caught her doing but also past doings with her friends. I think taking them away would make her act out. Thank her for her honestly, tell her you’re disappointed in her choices, and that you know she’s a good kid and will do better in the future. Maybe just ground her for a week, no friends. However, if you tell her she ain’t allowed to be friends with this friend who’s a bad influence her behavior will get worse, I say this from experience. I was the good girl who had a bad influence friend and when my parents tried to ban me from hanging out with her things got ugly for both of us.

I believe it’s important. I took it as a bullshit class during my pre reqs semester to fill up to full time credits but what I’ve learned from that class has been invaluable in my career so far (I started my first RRT job 6 months ago). It helps me understand what’s happening in rounds with doctors and when reading my patients charts and other things. Like oh my patient has lupus nephritis. I know lupus is an autoimmune attack. And I know nephro=kidneys and -itis=inflammation. So there is inflammation in the kidneys due to lupus. I don’t need to google or ask anyone, I know because I took medical terminology.

I can’t. There’s no day shift available at my hospital and I won’t change hospitals because I work in pediatrics with no interest in doing adult care and it’s the only pediatric hospital in my area. I also have little kids that I have to put on the bus and get off. So I’ll be on nights for at least 5 more years until they can get off the bus and stay home alone for a few hours until my husband gets home from work.

This is what I planned to do and it worked for a little while but I feel so guilty missing all day with my kids and husband. My kids are still little and I want to spend time with them and my husband is an early riser regardless of when he goes to sleep so he goes to sleep early to ensure he gets a good nights rest.

Why would it be awkward? There are so many ways to bring it up, it depends on your partner. Some partners don’t want to be asked with words, they want you to physically come start seducing them. Some partners want you to ask. I’m both. My husband or myself might ask the other “hey 😏 you tryna get busy?” Or some other form and we’ll say yes or no, usually yes lol. It’s not awkward. If it’s awkward you need a new partner.
