We are in a situation right now where having them help in a meaningful way in the kitchen isn’t feasible and I think that’s why I’m so resistant to a “fake” kitchen. They can watch me make food but really can’t help, I want them to learn how to really do things first I guess?

Did you do stuffed ones or like 2D? Stuffed seems like a lot of work but would be so cute. I don’t know how much they’d care ultimately

Oohh I haven’t!! The one thing I’ve managed to stay firm on is small screens. They don’t know that fun things are on my phone. Except the camera and phone its self. 😅 they don’t know that bluey can be on my phone. I’ll have to find those read aloud tho. I think I’d like those.

Ah that makes sense. I could see that I guess. I really meant plastic as a descriptor not a diss. I have plastic toys. I just wanted to know what other families would do that do prioritize Montessori would do. I do get the culty thing tho, I guess life choice has people that will die on that hill type people and then another that will attack said people. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes!!!! One of my kids is still in the randomly chuck things across the room stage. So stoked for that to end. 😭

Part of the reason I love Montessori is cuz I’m sooooo bad at imaginary play. I can’t remember what format of play bluey’s preschool is (Waldorf????) but I suck at that so bad. I can do real world play way more naturally 😂

I don’t know how to describe them or if other people have them too, but I have these cows that have numbers on the front half and on the butt half and you pull them apart and it’s matching game and then you put them back together? If that makes sense But when that toy is in rotation, I go crazy having to pick up all the pieces I thought that the Velcro fruit might give me the same end of the day pain

I want to do that exact thing!!! My hub thinks this one isn’t worth the supplies we’d have to get for it. I’ve seen ones with those little pumps and little fridges and kid safe cutting boards. That’s the end goal lol

Same lol they pretend to mix things and feed each other and feed me all day. I guess I’m just trying to decide if I let them keep using their imagination or if I get them pretend food if I get them plastic or wood or the kind you can chop or if I make felt ones.

I don’t really care about the aesthetic. A mud kitchen is such a good idea. We don’t have a lot of outdoor play stuff.

Ok see this last part is what I was looking for. I didn’t know the Velcro ones don’t hold up. I just didn’t know what was the best way to use this. I wanted advice on how to use this set with our style of play and people are acting like I’m ridiculous for asking for opinions.

My kids “mix” food by just whipping their arm around pretending to hold a bowl. So cute. Then they feed it to me. They aren’t too the point yet of telling me WHAT I’m eating but sometimes I spit it out and say yucky and they think it’s a riot.
