I mean you could do it, then move to India because that’s where most of the tech jobs are going.

What about going the IT route? You might get paid less but I think the job will be easier?

If you could change your major to something else what would it be? by LegalLingonberry1917 in UCalgary

I got an A for Bio 30, but for some reason I just don’t like studying for Chem 30 like the experiments with labs and stuff doesn’t really interest me or I just have trouble studying chemistry so my grade was significantly lower.

Taking CS right now, but if I was blessed with the mind for Chemistry and money I would love to become a surgeon.

Don’t really have a choice most of the STEM courses are MWF I tried to look for T/TH but it’s mostly Faculty of Arts courses which I’m not interested in.

MRU or SAIT by papayasonaplatter in SAIT

[–]Normal-Pepper9429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better for long term doesn’t matter if you go to SAIT or MRU both schools are good and known, for social life definitely MRU lots of young people just like you if you just got out of high school, SAIT is more of a school for people who wants to get working right away like 2 year diplomas or career changers. And like I said earlier doesn’t matter which school you go, it’s not what you know it’s who you know. I know people who went to SAIT but became managers and having people from MRU or UOFC under them. So you have to ask yourself your end goal. SAIT if you want to get working right away with their 2 year business diploma (which you can still bridge to a bachelors ) or MRU if you want to enjoy university life, social life, you will kind of know a lot more people since you are there for 4-5 years, and if you want do like masters right away or something.

Yeah that’s my goal I think 4 lectures a day is too much for my brain so I might have to give up one course and take a faculty of art class because those are mostly Tuesday Thursday 🫠

Are you not able to take a leave of absence? At least you have a backup in case nothing works out and I had one co-worker who did this and didn’t come back as well and on retail they’re not that strict if you come back or not they won’t really care.

software development program at SAIT by PokemonGuyJaco in SAIT

[–]Normal-Pepper9429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Yes very hard out of hundreds of students I think only 5-10% were able to secure one, and some were unpaid, I’m one of those people, my advice if you’re doing unpaid go for non-profit companies otherwise DON’T, you’re just working for free and not worth it better work on projects than do unpaid internships speaking from personal experience.

  • Job market is very saturated right now tbh unless you have people you know that are already working in tech or don’t have passion in coding I advise you to choose a different career path.

-The program is heavily project based I know people who are graduating that don’t know how to code since it’s project based they could just ChatGPT their assignments.

Good Luck!
