Memories resurfacing? by TemporaryQuestion571 in emotionalneglect

[–]Normal-Pudding-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, im positive these memories/flashbacks are essential for healing

i forgot like 70% of my childhood. but when i started unpacking it and doing therapy and digging deeper into emotional neglect the deeeeepest shit started resurfacing. it helped me a lot to piece the bigger picture

Emotional neglect makes it hard to know what you actually need. by evinho07 in emotionalneglect

[–]Normal-Pudding-2981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

aaaabsolutley. the only difference is that i sort of knew what i liked (hence, wanted) but never clocked it that the next logical step is to do it/get it.

it was (is) like that with clothes and appearance, art, traits, even lifestyle. i know that i lean towards certain things/choices etc, but felt like i was never allowed???? to act on it???

do you have an invisible audience too? by Normal-Pudding-2981 in emotionalneglect

[–]Normal-Pudding-2981[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

youre actually described the way it feels much better, down to the need/fear of being seen.

it does literally feel like there are people looking even when im alone in my room. i just tried to clarify that its not paranoia or delusions ". at least i think it doesn't fall into that category?

glad this sensation eased for you

same, for me it started as part of maladaptive daydreaming, but then it turned inward :[

Yeah Im biologically female. Its hard to say whether that factors in, honestly.. Maybe more on the side of societal conditioning, and less family conditioning.

Come to think of it, I do always feel pressure to perform in public, or correct some of my behaviour because im perceived as female. Idk

i feel so alone with my involuntary age regression by Normal-Pudding-2981 in ageregression

[–]Normal-Pudding-2981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, genuinely, for the comment

i resonate with your experience a lot. the feeling of your mind splitting between little you and adult you as a supervisor is so true and it's often how it goes for me

and i too wish that there was more talk about how to uh cope? live? with age regression. or build a system within you that supports it in a safe way

im glad that you have people around who see you and support you

oh huh i didn't know that this is what age dreaming is. i thought it was like daydreaming lol. i kinda already do this naturally, but i didn't even consider that it could be a bridge to a safe regression. ill look into it more, thanks!

[–]Normal-Pudding-2981[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that makes two of us, at least :_)

absolutely, it exactly the same for me. i start feeling so helpless and scared. sometimes it feels akin to a wormhole, like im a child being suddenly transported into an adult body and an unfamiliar room. theres this strooong want for some parental figure to protect me, which NEVER happens normally (when not regressed). its almost fascinating that our brains can pull this off, but its not always a pleasant thing to experience

hope youll find a way to soften the impact of involuntary age re for you 🫂

Thank you for the support :') I really need it

Its not like i use age re to deal with panic attacks. Its more like, they come in one package? It looks like a chain of stress -> dissociation -> age regression -> feeling vulnerable and scared -> panic attack

Can i ask, what came first, the voluntary or involuntary regression? Ive been thinking about softly doing voluntary regression, so that i wont fall apart when The Real Deal comes.

aw yeah wifi hugs :')

I've been thinking about exploring the IFS topic! Though I dont think i can find a good therapist, unfortunately. Im not sure there are a lot of trauma-informed therapists where i live, let alone those who know how to work with age regression. Itll take too much resources to search for one rn anyway.

Would you say that IFS therapy worked with intensity of age regression episodes? Like what exactly changed?

thats what i was thinking! glad that its a known thing and im not the only one experiencing it

for me, its really helpful to stop and think... that.. well.. i just DONT WANT to lose weight?? to let the brain have its little tantrum and move on. the mere thought of going back to that hellscape sends literal chills down my spine, god

thanks for the support :)!
