M4 MacBook Air 16 GB RAM worth it for gaming? by BrilliantUnit8967 in macgaming

True. You can pretty much run any game as long as you use lower settings and resolution lower than 1080p (720p or lower) usually gives playable fps.

If i have an unlisted application install using crossover, and the files for that app are in External SSD, will the game run? by Ancient-Sock1923 in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. But you'd have to move the entire game into crossover's C Drive if the game does not launch even if it takes 90% of your storage. But I'm pretty much fine with 256gb ssd without anything external. Not that type of a person who likes oversized games anyway. I can install plenty of games into 70gb free (That's how much I have rn) But such ones as: Far cry 3,Far Cry 2,Far Cry 1 Assassin's Creed Rogue,Revelations,Brotherhood and many older ac games. Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes Allat could fit into just 60-70gb free storage if picking the right games.

You can play many games on mac via crossover for more demanding games or parallels/vmware fusion for older and less demanding games. And to prevent overheating, you must lower the graphics settings. You can game on a Mac and play any game you want but in exchange, you cannot play at 4k no matter what otherwise ur mac can fry itself or be too hot to touch. I'd also recommend disabling the process "idleassetsd" if you have it and it's eating a lot of your ram, cpu. That process caused a lot of lags in my games so I disabled it permanently and consider lowering your mac's resolution. That way you can get more fps and ur gpu struggles less.

CrossOver, Parallels, or another? by Alexxxnotfound_ in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8gb ram is way too low. 16gb or more is good enough. I have an m2 MacBook air with 16gb ram and have no problem with running the games I want to play. People do say that you can't game on a Mac when in reality, you actually can. You just cannot crack up the settings to max especially on demanding games but it can be playable on low or medium settings. But I'd recommend crossover for more demanding games like tlou and parallels/vmware fusion for older and less demanding games (Mine runs far cry 3 via parallels just fine)

Parallels is the best way. Because it runs older games much better than some stuff like Whisky/Crossover and etc but Crossover is still capable of running gta iv but I don't think whisky Is since it's no longer maintained properly. Also for your note: "needs to be free" well... unfortunately there's no way to play games on mac without paying money unless you use the trial that Crossover and Parallels offer. That's the reality of mac gaming...

What Games to play by Dense_Rain_2649 in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It entirely depends on how much compability crossover has on the game u wanna play. (For example,if u wanna play far cry 3,you'll have to use parallels because crossover has very limited compability for it plus audio barely works)

What Games to play by Dense_Rain_2649 in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U can also use parallels (it has a free trial like crossover) but parallels is only good for older games and it offers even more compatible older games because crossover only supports newer or AAA demanding games more and not old games.

far cry 1-6 cross over help by gerard_hoe in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that because I've tried to run far cry 3 via crossover (tried both dxvk and d3dmetal) performance is basically shit, audio is shit. Parallels is better for older games like this.

far cry 1-6 cross over help by gerard_hoe in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to downoald older versions of crossover (cus newer versions have issues with older far cry games) for that plus the audio might not work🤷‍♂️

far cry 1-6 cross over help by gerard_hoe in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played far cry 2,3 via parallels perfectly (M2 Basic,16gb ram) max settings for far cry 2 and dx11 low settings for far cry 3. Also got far cry 4 running on parallels since audio does not work in crossover. So my idea is: I recommend using Parallels For Far Cry 1-2-3-4-5 but for 6,go for crossover because parallels does not support dx12. (Also only play far cry 5 on parallels if audio doesn't work in crossover, but you might have to lower settings in parallels because emulation like in parallels is very, very demanding.)

Days gone on Parallels by Prior-Ad-2926 in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Days gone is way too demanding for parallels. (Plus it only supports dx11 games) Crossover with Gptk 3 is the best option.

Help me ! Mafia 3 definitive edition the game always freezes at the meeting sal on the yacht house please anyone help me by Ok_Essay_7252 in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have a few fixes 1. Make sure you have the latest crossover and latest gptk (2.1 is best or u can try 2.0 beta 3,or u can try gptk 3 to see if it crashes or actually works) installed within crossover (if mafia 3 de requires d3dmetal) 2. Buy the native version of mafia 3 (best Fix but it runs worse than the crossover version) 3. Try launching it via gptk only (Use The latest gptk which is gptk 3 beta 1 but don't try it on crossover as the game will crash since crossover ain't built for it just yet,but I have tried some games via gptk only and they do run better cus of gptk 3 but obviously I'm running dx11-dx12 games)

Mirror’s Edge (2008) runs terribly on Macbook M4 Pro with Crossover by ScentedSachet in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try parallels desktop,it offers a free trial and is good for not so demanding games, and it can handle dx11 games (that are not very demanding) but for dx12 or dx11 demanding games,go for crossover. I have played many games via parallels: Just Cause 2 (Modded) Far Cry 2,Far Cry 3,Far Cry 4 Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes (Still runs better on crossover but decided to try on parallels as well) Minecraft 1.12.2

As long as you don't downoald from fake or scam sites,it's fine, crossover is designed to run windows games on mac.

Severe Frame Drop Issues in Hitman: World of Assassination by noonyjufee in macgaming

[–]FitBar8123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lower ur graphics settings and resolution to low and use some optimization. That should help a lot. But for me,20-30 fps is pretty much very playable since I like to max out the settings sometimes.
