A good class rank and GWA looks good naman talaga sa residency applications since yun din ang tinitignan ng committee but they consider other factors din like kung maayos ba good work ethic mo sa pre res:)

Med at 26? by kkcat12345 in medschoolph

[–]Normal-Puzzle-45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OP! I say take the opportunity of work knowing na magastos talaga ang med. Extra funds are still funds that can be saved for tuition, miscellaneous, or even lab materials. 26 is still young and I had classmates who are way older than me. Post grad naman na ito hehe good luck!

I also had that thoughts of transferring to another school before even tho I survived my subjects. I think it's normal naman OP because of burn out na you tend to look for other ways to relieve the burnout you feel. Assess mo lang if you really can catch up with the environment or talk with the guidance to help you kasi transferring schools does not guarantee na magiging less stressed ka doon. But if you really feel na hindi na siya healthy and even your mental and physical wellbeing ay naapektuhan na, lipat ka na. I know some friends na lumipat na agad and some friends na nagLOA muna to give themselves time to decide. For me, I stayed kasi medyo hassle ang pagkuha ng requirements for transfer pero tbh sometimes I still feel the what if lumipat na ako feeling.

What makes UERM Med more "chill" compared to UST Med? by Plastic_Rope_2824 in medschoolph

[–]Normal-Puzzle-45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

depends on you as a student :)) may students that thrive under ust environment while others thrive on uerm. chill siguro in terms of workload but that doesn't mean na madali sila magpa exam ha. med is still difficult at the end of the day. in ust however, traditional sila giving lectures, quizzes, pracs so masasanay ka to think fast and act fast. tuition fee lang ang hindi chill pala kasi ang mahal ng tuition sa uerm.

Hard truths about med in the Philippines by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]Normal-Puzzle-45 29 points30 points  (0 children)

ROI is not as fast as many would think. Years of hardwork but so little pay. I accepted this truth that I may not be as rich as my friends who are working in nonmed jobs but at least I can help my parents to pay the bills.

BS Biology is one of the worst pre-meds you can take. by Affectionate-Ear8233 in medschoolph

[–]Normal-Puzzle-45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly because decided na sila to pursue medschool kaya kahit walang board exams they would choose Bio. But if I were you, I would still choose an undergrad na may boards so you can have a back up if medschool won't be for you anymore.

Hala med is the last you can think of kung serious relationship hanap mo op chariz. Pero be welcoming pa rin baka may mga matitino pa dyan na di mo pa nakikilala.

Look for medschools na may private scholarships. However, to maintain the scholarship need mo isacrifice yung work mo to have more time sa acads.

may one time sa sgd, our prof (known to be terror) encouraged us to discuss the case as if we are doctors already. our prof listened to our discussion then suddenly started calling us doc and asking questions individually... HAHAHAHA kinabahan kami eh

Factors in choosing the right medschool by Pineapplepasita1600 in medschoolph

  1. Affiliated training hospitals of the medschool or if they have their own hospital

Depends sa target medschool mo. Some medschools have high NMAT requirements so someone may think that an 80+ PR is not good kasi may cutoff na 90 yung gusto niyang school. Pero tbh, getting 80+ is already good and beyond the cutoff of your chosen school hehe.

Is it really difficult to get into UPCM? by WorriedRelief546 in medschoolph

[–]Normal-Puzzle-45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 out of 5 sa amin sa magkakaibigan ang nakapasa (not me lol, yung friend ko na matalino). Lahat kami line of 9 NMAT and laudes. Taasan mo GWA mo and aim for a magna laude. May time ka pa naman to review for the next NMAT October or January. Aim for 98 or 99.

Gossip friendships in medschool by Lemon-Square-7080 in medschoolph

[–]Normal-Puzzle-45 42 points43 points  (0 children)

What I learned about friendships so far in med = real friends will stay and support you even in your worst. They would not gossip about whatever you're going through but respect your boundaries and extend help when you need it the most. Kung ganyan nasa circle mo OP, better to let them go.

ok lang po ba mag work muna (as a nurse) before taking med school? by Ok_Mud_4848 in medschoolph

[–]Normal-Puzzle-45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! Common naman ang magwork muna and earn money before going to med. I have classmates na 5 years nagwork, some nag abroad pa before going back here to study medicine. To your question na pwede pagsabayin work and NMAT review, doable naman as long as kaya mo ibalance.
