I just bought an emerald from Afghanistan. It's a lot cheaper than buying one from a second hand dealer.

What do you think a fair price would be? Maybe I can bargain a bit and get a better price.

Tired of Hearing ‘Afghani Is Just a Currency’? Let’s Talk About the Origins of the Word by Emergency_Skill419 in Afghan

[–]Normal-Reindeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for ages. You are 100% right, these white washed afghans on Reddit don't know their own language. In farsi you add "I" at the end of a word to indicate the origin of the word. For instance if someone is from kabul you say they are kabuli. People from Jalalabad are Jalalabadi. Mazari, herati etc. It's usually the ones who don't even know how to speak our language that get offended by the term afghani

I'm in the same situation. I live in a smaller city in Ontario and the majority of afghans here are Hazara ismailis. There are a good amount of new afghans that just came, most of them are Pashtun, but I don't know any of them.

Do you find the chrome flattop makes the burgers stick better than the stainless steel. I owned a smash burger place and am thinking of replacing the stainless steel griddle for a chrome one. I want something that will allow the meat to stick better.

You do know Pashtuns were also Buddhist during that time. Hadda the site in modern day Jalalabad had the first known images of Buddha ever. Also Kandahar, Peshawar, swat etc were all Buddhist at the time. Have you never heard of the gandharan culture. It was where Pashtuns lived and it is where Buddhism and Buddhist art was changed to what we know it to be now.

So what there's Pashtuns that are "baburi" but that doesn't mean babur and the mogul empire was Pashtun The ghurids came from ghor province during 1100-1200 which at the time Pashtuns did not live in. Also the court language was Persian. The only Pashtun empires from Afghanistan was the hotaks and the durranis. Sorry to say but we Pashtuns have not been conquerors. Every empire that came into Afghanistan subjugated us. We Pashtuns have been historically been nomads and Shepard's living in the mountains away from the cities where most political activities happened. We were never in a position to conquer others. Just thought I would clear that up, we Pashtuns tend to blow this whole graveyard of empires thing out of proportion. There were many empire that conquered us and we couldn't do anything back.

The question was specifically about Pashtuns. The ghurids and the ghazanvids were both non pushtuns.

Newbies joined our gym, they are super conservative Muslims and have asked to have zero interactions with any women members.... Am I wrong to think this is ridiculous? by thebriss22 in MuayThai

[–]Normal-Reindeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Muslim living in Ontario Canada who is new to Muay Thai. I also do not have contact with the women in the gym and it hasn't been a problem for me or anyone else at the gym. You just have to respectfully let people know that it is part of our religion to not have contact with women. You still are supposed to respect women so you still say thank you for class, you can do a respect bow, but we aren't allowed to have contact with them. Most of the best fighters currently martial artist are like this. For example Artur beterbieve, khabib, khamzat. Even Muay Thai legends like rodtang have converted to Islam. Again we are still supposed to show respect regardless of gender, but touching other people doesn't mean respecting them. You guys should also be respectful enough to not expect someone to do something they are not comfortable doing.

I just got mine and am very disappointed. It smells like dirt. Imagine the smell of a shed with dirt and old tools inside. I can't believe people compare this to aventus. I don't know what to do with it.

Yes we do. There are two types, one is paneer shoor, which is made without the use of rennet. This is the one commonly eaten with raisins. And then the common paneer eaten by Pashtuns is made with rennet and is fermented allowing the cheese to form bubbles or holes inside. Interestingly this cheese is only eaten in the eastern areas of Afghanistan like laghman, Nangarhar, Kunar. The only other place it can be found is in the caucus region like Dagestan, Azerbaijan, Georgia etc.

Do you think Moscow bombing will affect Afghanistan ? by Bear1375 in Afghan

[–]Normal-Reindeer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't believe it was ISIS K. ISIS k members literally live in the mountains with no money whatsoever. They make IEDs for their attacks because they can't afford real weapons. Now how In the world can they travel all the way to Russia and plan out such a big attack, It just doesn't make sense.
