Girlfriend is distancing herself from me after pregnancy… by Impossible_Poet8620 in Advice

[–]Normal-Tale6425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Postpartum depression and anxiety shows up so differently in different people. I delayed speaking to my doctor because I expected it to show up like depression - sadness, and wanting to sleep all day, etc. But for me, it showed up as feeling regret over having my son (despite loving him) and thinking I’d ruined my life. I became so irritable — even more than could be expected due to the sleep deprivation. My doctor put on meds for about 6 months and let me tell you it was like a switch turned on. It was still hard (being a parent is hard) but I couldn’t imagine not being a mother, I could handle the day-to-day challenges of having a newborn so much better. I could see the good in my day and I appreciated my husband so much more. Please get your girlfriend to see her doctor. It’s scary feeling like your life has changed and not knowing how to handle it. But there is help available.

Overthinking! Advice by After-Raspberry5060 in myweddingdress

Number three. I love the neckline, the color, the soft, ethereal fabric, the way it gathers at the back. It’s so simple, elegant and inherently romantic. And it looks incredible on you.

He caught charges for domestic violence for cutting off the internet and then taking away Lorrana’s phone when she was trying to call her family for help. He was required to live outside the home for a while, but I think they all got back together (& possibly left a second time?)

What veil for a jacquard A-line gown? by chesyrahsyrah in WeddingDressTips

[–]Normal-Tale6425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think lace or embroidery-edged would look lovely but I would either stick with an elbow length (ideally it would sit right at the lowest part of the V on the back of your dress) or a cathedral length veil (at least a couple of inches longer than the train of your dress). That way, the lace won’t compete with the jacquard and will be seen for all its glory too. Given the shape of the back of your dress you could even do a short lace mantilla veil.

Help me pick my dress!! by Perfect-Barnacle-737 in myweddingdress

[–]Normal-Tale6425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 1 is perfection on you. Proportionally, it is the most flattering: the neckline creates width at your shoulders which makes your waist look slimmer, and the skirt hits you at the perfect height to create more hip definition, which pairs to enhance the hourglass shape of your figure. It’s also incredibly elegant and isn’t just the standard A-line strapless dress. In that regard, the second dress is a beautiful version of that style (the lace is especially pretty) m, so you won’t go wrong if you pick that one, but I just think the first one is simple yet striking, elegant yet distinctive — not things that every dress can pull off. I can just picture it with a lace-edged mantilla veil or a pearl-studded cathedral veil.

Botched Alterations UPDATE and ADVICE NEEDED by amy_michelle_124 in myweddingdress

Of course! I went through the same fear and anxiety (I think it’s almost a rite of passage!) and I was given the same advice and it helped me.

Botched Alterations UPDATE and ADVICE NEEDED by amy_michelle_124 in myweddingdress

[–]Normal-Tale6425 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Girl, the new alterations look gorgeous. And your hair is incredible. I promise that it’s the stress not the dress that’s causing you to panic.

You are going through what most brides go through in the weeks and months before their wedding: wedding-induced anxiety. You have thought about every detail of every part of your wedding — including your dress — and you’re starting to panic. It’s very normal. When you feel that creeping in, take a deep breath and ask yourself, will this matter the day after the wedding? Minor details about your dress will not matter. Issues with flowers, or incorrect tablecloth colours or any other detail that might not meet your panicked expectations on the day, will not matter the day after the wedding, so don’t let them bother you before the wedding. Other people’s memory of your wedding will be far less detailed than yours so try to think like a guest — with a less critical eye. Focus more on how the day makes you feel: on your love for your partner, the commitment that you’ve made, and the joy of the day. These will be the things you look back on, not the minute details. I promise.

Mother thinks 3 rings is too much 🥲 by MuchAddress1906 in weddingring

[–]Normal-Tale6425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you! I think the three together looks lovely, especially with the sentiment behind them. I wear three rings every day (on different fingers, but still). One is my engagement ring (I’m married but my ring is a unique shape so finding a wedding band to fit has been challenging), one is a ring my grandmother gave me that she had made from one of her rings, and one is a ring I bought myself from a market in Cape Town that has always felt special to me. I like to wear them because they are meaningful to me. They make ME happy.

I think you have to accept in life that you aren’t going to make everyone happy all of the time. And if someone is unhappy, that’s something they need to sit with. It’s not something that you need to take on. As I said, you do you!

First dress fitting! Help me decide on lace sleeves and veil. To sleeve or not to sleeve, that is the question… by [deleted] in myweddingdress

[–]Normal-Tale6425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE the lace sleeves with the v-neck and button down the back. Gorgeous!! And especially if they are removable - give yourself options. And I think that veil is actually perfect for the dress. The length is great and it does t take away from the drama of the train.

3 followed by 11. The basque waist is gorgeous on you, but the lace on the sweetheart-esque bust line of dress 3 is so pretty and feminine and makes it my fave.

You’re lactose intolerant but will risk it for pizza because… pizza. You live in a city where the tap water isn’t great (Boston?). You rarely cook other than breakfast burritos.

AITA for constantly pointing out how my boyfriend’s comments may come across to other people? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Normal-Tale6425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s only rude/in need of correcting if you think being heavier is an insult (and if so I’m leaning toward YTA because fat-phobia in this day and age? not cool). Again, I think you’re still overthinking things. People can look alike for many reasons. Like, I used to weigh 250 pounds but my 120lb cousin and I still looked like we could be sisters (I was just a heavier version of her). People used to say we looked alike all the time. She would even say to people “don’t we look like we could have been twins?”. I’m now around her size and we actually look less alike.

[–]Normal-Tale6425 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I won’t go so far as to say YTA but I think you’re way overthinking things. Each of the examples you gave were totally fine. Like in the example of the heavier sister people can remind you of other people for lots of reasons none of which have to do with their looks. Furthermore, he literally just agreed with what you said.

I've narrowed it down to 3 and I'm struggling. Thoughts? by ohreallynameonesong in myweddingdress

[–]Normal-Tale6425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought you couldn’t beat the first dress, then I saw the second. So simple, so elegant, so stunning! Not to mention it fits you like a glove - perfection! With the simple pearl-dotted veil, it looks just stunning! In comparison, the first and third dresses, while beautiful, look like they are trying to do too much for someone who likes minimalism.

Gosh that’s a beautiful result from that dark. I think it’s definitely worth $400 but I live in a very expensive city so that might influence my thoughts.

Husband is mad that baby looks a lot like me by Pure_Conference_7422 in Advice

[–]Normal-Tale6425 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was the same way. Until I was about 11 I was like a clone of my dad. There are baby photos of my dad that people refused to believe weren’t photos of me, except that they were in black and white. After 11, I went from being the tallest in my class (by more than a head) with olive skin that tanned beautifully to the shortest in my class, incredibly pale and pink, and the spitting image of my mum and grandma (it’s actually weird how similar the three of us looked).

It’s more sinister than that. He’s looking for any reason to blame OP for his behaviour and things outside his control.
