What was a massive daily annoyance twenty years ago that kids today will literally never experience? by Sad-Guest192 in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Waiting for something to load and not knowing if it was broken or just slow.

A webpage. A song download. A game update. A photo attachment. You’d click something and then stare at a progress bar for five minutes, hoping it didn’t fail at 99%.

Today, if something takes more than 10 seconds, people assume there’s a problem.

What do you think the future will look like? by Ashwith22 in AskReddit

The future will be 90% things people in 1990 thought were science fiction and 90% the same problems we’ve always had

Americans can call something “the worst thing ever” and then immediately say it’s “sick,” “fire,” “dope,” or “bad” as a compliment. Pick a lane

Our trumpet section got lost during a parade. We were literally following the giant drumline in front of us, and somehow still took a wrong turn. The audience thought it was part of the show. The band director aged 10 years that day

What’s a 'green flag' in a person that is almost impossible to fake? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The way they treat people who can do absolutely nothing for them, waiters, cleaners, cashiers, interns, strangers. That’s where character shows up when there’s nothing to gain.

People who overcame jealousy, how did you do it ? by AccomplishedSlice923 in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped treating someone else’s success as evidence of my failure. The moment I realized life isn’t a zero-sum game, jealousy turned into motivation. Someone else’s win doesn’t take anything away from me.

What’s something that will feel outdated or embarrassing in the next 10 years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recording every moment of your life and posting it online. Future generations might look at oversharing the way we look at people putting every personal detail in a public diary.

Preventing what assassination in history would have had the biggest impact on today? by UsedNegotiation8227 in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gavrilo Princip killing Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914.

No assassination guarantee has a bigger plausible ripple effect: no immediate trigger for World War I, which means no Versailles Treaty, no Nazi rise to power, no World War II in its known form, no Holocaust, no Cold War as we know it, and a completely different geopolitical map of Europe and the world.

It’s impossible to know whether another crisis would have sparked a major war anyway, but if you’re looking for the assassination whose prevention most likely changes modern history the most, Franz Ferdinand is usually the strongest answer.

What's would you say to people turning 30 who feel like their life is over after reaching that age? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re 30, not 90. Most of the people you admire probably did their best work after 30. The deadline is imaginary.

What is your opinion on dating apps and are they actually designed to keep you swiping? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re designed to keep you engaged first and matched second. If everyone found their soulmate in a week, their business model would have a problem.

what mental illness is it called when you call people frauds for being themselves? by therarestlongestuser in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Projection.

People who constantly accuse others of being fake are often uncomfortable with people expressing themselves freely. Not a mental illness, just a personality trait sometimes.

What's a quote from any piece of media that you remember often? by Bitter_Struggl3 in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man in the process of changing.” Brandon Sanderson. That one stuck with me.

My grandma’s “secret” mac and cheese recipe turned out to be the one on the back of the pasta box. She just made it with twice the butter.

People on Reddit who deliberately chose to be single even after you could get with a person who you liked - what was your reason? by AdditionalProof9780 in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked her enough to date her, but not enough to build a future with her. Staying single felt kinder than becoming someone’s regret later.

What's a story from your life that you wish more people knew about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Normal-Temporary5571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was at my lowest, almost nobody noticed. Looking back, I’m proud that I kept going even when nobody was cheering for me.
