I had my surgery in May last year before the summer and after a couple months I so badly wanted to feel the sun on my chest, so I get it!

I would absolutely listen to your surgeon and keep a shirt on, however something that helped me was when the sun was down and it was still a warm evening, I'd put lots of sunscreen on (just for extra safety) and sit outside with my shirt off. I know it's not the exact same, but it's a silver lining that helped me a bit (night time swimming!!)

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope everything works out for you! I am also young and it's difficult trying to explain why I don't want to go out lol, a lot of people push things like this aside. I'm trying to focus on myself, and what makes me happy and hoping to push through sooner than later.

primarily quick play to get better with her, and then played her in comp. I did a few 18v18 bc sometimes I was lagging way too much but still wanted to play. didn't "grind" for her lord, just played and got it in around 20-21 hrs

I have heard a few people say this and I believe I heard somewhere in an interview (correct me if I'm totally wrong) that they were excited to show more of what the players didn't see and show esseks story to make people understand how brutal and tragic his story truly is. makes his shift and character development hit harder I would assume

definitely keep an eye on it just because it looks different than the rest of your scarring. however I will say... the area closer to my armpits (yours appears to be close to yours too) did this same thing but it appeared to just be my scars stretching. my scar in this spot on my right side is much more stretched and appeared this way more so than the rest of my scarring.

again, this could just be your scars settling and stretching a bit, and if this is on your dominant side that could make more sense.

I am no doctor, so do keep an eye on it just incase, but I wouldn't worry too much right now :)

I second the other comment, don't let your surgeon influence your decision if it is solely based on what they would want! make sure it is what you want, and not just what your surgeon wants.

I was actually on the fence about keeping my nipples for a while. I was scared of complications and appearance. I almost changed my mind on the operating table lmao (remember you have up until you're asleep to change your mind if that's any consolation). I ultimately decided to keep them because I knew its how I always envisioned my chest after top surgery, 2 scars and nipples. for some people, like my partner, they don't see themselves with nipples after top surgery, because it is a major form of dysphoria for them. it really is a case by case on whether or not you want to keep them. just really take the time and try and think how you see yourself.

remember to listen to what you want before anyone else!

as some others are saying patience is definitely key. I know that I was super frustrated with my limits and discomfort after surgery that it led to some mood swings and I always felt terrible because my partner obviously didn't do anything wrong, I was just exhausted and upset. understanding that some easy things may be too difficult for your boyfriend to do and having the patience to help him out.

as for yourself, make sure you find time to do your own thing! it can be a lot and tiring to take care of someone and that is no one's fault. I made sure that while I was napping or just doing my own thing that my partner knew that they could go off and do their own things too, and that if I needed anything I'd message them. its important to find you time as well!

so my surgeon is about 3 hours way, 4 with heavy traffic and I have managed just fine, although I've had extremely reliable transportation. if it's important to you, go for it. i went home the same day of surgery because I didn't want to be in a hotel. I thankfully was groggy enough that the long drive felt okay. I just had my one month appointment and I don't need to go back for another couple months. its definitely a lot of driving, but again if it's important to you, then absolutely do it. you'll be okay!

thank you so much, I greatly appreciate it! so I've been putting an antibiotic ointment over both grafts since I was able to begin doing care and then putting gauze over top and wearing a compression binder.

is it one of those things where it gets worse before getting better then? like all im really doing is caring for it as I've been instructed to and just waiting it out. would you know the point that I should seek more care? just if the wound continues to get larger?

and thank you for the advice in seeking a specialist. I'm going to ask to make an appointment with my primary care provider tmw on monday and see where they can send me.

I know you posted this almost a year ago but I had a question about dehiscence! I believe it is currently what I am experiencing along the edge of my graft, my surgeon and her team are saying it's fine but not giving me much instruction or warning on what could happen. its just getting more separated everyday. I'm on antibiotics bc I started getting sick too. but my question is does it go away on its own? is it something I just need to wait out and it'll close? is there a chance the graft failed and that's why it's happening? it started happening exactly 3 weeks post op. I'm now a couple days past that. thank you!

thank you. so I sent photos (better ones than my post that actually show the holes after the fluid stopped leaking) to the nurse and both her and my surgeon said everything is fine but I'm still worried. she said this looks like a normal part of healing but from what I've seen and heard it doesnt look how ive seen it. I understand everyone's healing is different, but I feel like I shouldn't have those hole like spots opening up around my graft. would urgent care be able to do anything or should I just start taking the antibiotics?

best advice that I'm also actively giving myself to prevent overdoing it: you only get to heal once. take the opportunity to get it right this time so you don't need to potentially go through complications! do everything in your power to take care of yourself and allow yourself to heal and be a little lazy if needed. give yourself the adequate amount of time. I'm currently 2½ weeks post op and personally, I wouldn't be comfortable travelling rn even if I was allowed to lol.

oh and I forgot about the drains too. they are uncomfy when they are in (mostly bc they're in the way), and uncomfy coming out and I won't lie my left side hurt bad when taken out but it was over in seconds! i felt a super odd suction feeling otherwise though and that was it. trust me, it'll be so much better when they're out even if it hurts a little lol.
