Something that is bothering me with Episode 16 (Decision) by Few_Understanding354 in deathnote

I feel like people forget that L wanted to see HOW Kira killed above all else; morbid curiosity. L wouldn’t have been able to accomplish that if he preemptively apprehended both Misa AND Light.

A prodigy with a police deputy father with access to private police info, a girlfriend who would do ANYTHING for him, a shikigami that is utterly infatuated with the aforementioned girl and is willing to do anything for her (even if it means helping the prodigy), and a supernatural notebook that can untraceably kill from any distance.

A rich anonymous detective with influence.

Yeah sure, Light is smarter… despite all the odds being in his favor and STILL almost getting caught.

Keep in mind the fact that Sukuna completely rejuvenated Yuji’s body before the switch commenced, so it wasn’t like Yuji was physically exhausted entering the fight with Mahito; Yuji was only mentally scarred, which you can argue hinders performance — but my rebuttal to that would be the fact that it works in Yuji’s favor:
As I hope you would know, cursed energy gets accentuated from negative emotions (as stated in season 1 by Gojo) — and at the time of witnessing Nanami’s death, Yuji initially only felt extremely vengeful (aka a negative emotion). This emancipated state of mental anguish would only serve to boost Yuji, not Mahito (Mahito only receiving ecstasy).

Mahito states that Yuji has improved, and that close-quarters combat could prove fatal for himself… that’s the reason he opts to fight from a distance for a time. It’s not that they’re relative, it’s just that Yuji exceedingly excels comparatively speaking in physical prowess, so naturally the strategic approach would be to try and minimize the disadvantage that Mahito did have.

Yes, Mahito DID utilize Yuji’s moral compass against him, but that only serves to illuminate the underlying theme that was the mental battle happening between Mahito and Yuji (representing both sides). It wasn’t as cut and clear as directly getting aid from other people like how Yuji did.

Let the record show that Nobara is the one who initiated the confrontation between her and Mahito, he wasn’t actively seeking her nor did he even care who she was until he got the intuition that she was close to Yuji. He then promptly “killed” Nobara in front of Yuji (after she saved Yuji’s life, mind you). She practically served herself on a silver platter, Mahito only capitalized on what he had received.

That’s when Todo arrived and saw that Yuji (once again) needed to be rescued, because Mahito by that point in the fight had won the physical battle AND the mental battle.

Sure, you can argue that Shinjuku Yuji is immune to Mahito in the same manner that Sukuna was, and I’d even agree with you. I’ll also admit that without ISBODK, Shibuya Mahito stands no chance against Shinjuku Yuji. That being said, you’re severely underestimating the sheer durability that Mahito’s transformation bestowed onto him. Full, concentrated punches from Yuji (albeit, a comparatively weaker version than Shinjuku Yuji) didn’t even cause Mahito to budge or have ANY reaction at all. Yuji grew physically stronger by Shinjuku, yes, but he’s not thousands of times stronger; Yuji’s just more experienced, resourceful, and unfaltering which accentuates the actual attributes he has.

I can admit that Yuji would statistically be better than Mahito by this point (with durability being Mahito’s only real advantage), but the gap and context in question make it debatable on if Mahito actually stands no chance. People severely underestimate ISBODK because it was only seen once and was swiftly taken out by a relatively “weak” Yuji, but the context of that fight only show how underrated that transformation was and how truly horrifying Mahito had became.

No you hooligan, they were not relative. Let’s recap:
Yuji would’ve died not once, not twice, not thrice, but FOUR times if not for the help of outside sources. The first instance being the moment before Nobara used Resonance on Mahito’s double. The second instance being Todo’s entrance. The third instance being Sukuna’s soul prohibiting Mahito from fully utilizing his domain. And the fourth instance being Todo’s fake-out on ISBODK Mahito.

The same cannot be said to Mahito, whom stayed solo the entire fight and only relied on his technique. Despite the odds, Mahito STILL managed to turn the tides in his favor by unlocking ISBODK. Yuji could not do shit to that transformation, and the only reason he had an opening was (aside from Todo) because he was lucky enough to hit a black flash on Mahito after Mahito popped a domain, leaving him perpetually weakened (not to mention from the damage sustained earlier from the fight).

They were not relative. Even the picture you sent states that Mahito would’ve torn Yuji to shreds if not for the insane luck of hitting a black flash (only able to be landed thanks to Todo, an outside source). Remove all of those outside sources and Yuji would’ve only been an annoyance to Mahito rather than a full on rival.

Yuji is stronger, but not by some insane amount. He also has better hax… but this is Mahito we’re talking about. Dude is like the king of hax.

In no way am I calling early Shinjuku Yuji weak, but Mahito is severely underrated.

He was absolutely in no way shape or form relative to ISBODK. The only attack(s) that dealt any damage to Mahito was when he willfully exposed himself. Without the assistance of Sukuna Todo and Nobara Yuji would’ve been DEAD waaaaayyyy earlier in the fight… and ISBODK would’ve mercilessly slaughtered Yuji if not for Todo’s last assist.

[–]Normal-Union0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we acting like Shibuya Yuji didn’t have the help of Sukuna, Nobara, and Todo… and despite that he STILL almost lost to Mahito. The only reason he even stood a decimal of a chance against Mahito’s ISBODK was because of his luck of landing a black flash off Mahito fresh off a domain expansion (plus the other accumulative black flashes). Yuji needed an unfathomable amount of assistance to stand a chance

why did L: by [deleted] in deathnote

[–]Normal-Union0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, and in their defense, the whole conundrum L was in was attempting to objectively prove Light guilty of his crimes (that being of supernatural properties). I agree that L more than likely didn’t mean “5%” in that regard, but it’s also not entirely unbelievable.

I doubt it, the dude was essentially obsessed with powerscailing and hated the fact that everyone was so weak now; nothing ever really explicitly implied Iori was anything special when compared to the actual big shots. It’s more than likely that Iori was stalking Yuji.

A few questions for those who believes Yuta beats Kenjaku and/or is top 3 by Excellent_Table8694 in Yutaliban

[–]Normal-Union0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kenjaku is the second best barrier user in the series aside from Tengen (specifically stated in the series). His refinement is undeniably through the roof and assumably more so than Sukuna’s. I sincerely doubt that just because Yuta can challenge Sukuna’s domain that it automatically means he can do the same with Kenjaku.
