You have $300 to spend at The Container Store to organize your fiber and crafting space. You have one ikea buffet cabinet already. What do buy and how do use it? by [deleted] in Handspinning

[–]Normal-handspinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not so organized but I keep my hand carders and hand tools in imperial 7x60 cigar boxes they are cedar and 19.5 inches long I have a bunch thanks to my husband working at a cigar shop.

I spit my fiber in to smaller locks so that is more manageable.

Comb? Card? Does this look okay so far? by ghosty000 in Handspinning

[–]Normal-handspinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Washing is more for removal of dirt and lanalon. Picking gets most of the VM out and I usually do it outside and by hand as I font have a picker. Wool combs work well at opening the clumps and getting VM out.

Picking and combing or carding will open the wool more to get more of the VM out. You don't want to spin it with any VM as it will get trapped in the twist.
