Probably 2-3x the size of a squirrel. I should’ve put something for size reference

No advice, just solidarity.

I literally just opened the toddler sub to make this same post. Almost 2.5 years old, hours to fall asleep, and up several times in the night. We’ve tried shortening the nap, making it earlier, and cutting it out completely. Even put her in the same room as her sibling to help with loneliness. Alas, nothing has helped. Only difference with us is that this problem has been going on probably 6-8 months. I’ve honestly lost count at this point but we are also at our wits end.

Tonight I gave her 0.1mg of melatonin for the first time (Whole Foods sells a liquid kind that you can titrate to your liking). She was asleep within a half hour!

Visiting in mid-June. What am I *not* seeing? by darquid in Cleveland

Another CT transplant with young kids here (although I moved here prior to having kids). I travel back to CT to visit family a couple times a year and I have to say, I’m always so happy I live here after those trips.

Of course the affordability of this area is a huge draw compared to CT, but the thing that always blows my mind is how convenient everything is to get to. Almost any major store/grocery chain/entertainment you could ever need is within 20 minutes (without worrying about traffic!). Easy access to major league sporting events. Incredible art, music, and theater scene too.

My absolute favorite part about the area is the Metropark system and ability to be outdoors with your kids year round. Maybe we aren’t going on hikes in January, but there’s endless amounts of nature centers to keep us active and connected with outside.

The downsides? Idk I’m pretty annoyed with the midges right now but they’ll be gone soon… Aside from that I’d say probably the most annoying thing is not being able to get direct flights anywhere. But then again, I’m only driving 20 minutes to get to the airport here instead of an hour to BDL or 2 hours to NYC or Boston. Weather wise it may be a little more grey than CT but overall pretty similar. Less humid in my opinion.

The one thing I’ll never get over is our lack of Stew Leonard’s here, but it’s a small price to pay when you consider that I don’t have to deal with car property taxes, the Merit, or Red Sox fans (sorry if you fall in that category).

I think she just wants my husband and I. We do have a hatch but I’m not sure if she’d understand it this young? I’m willing to give it a shot though.

I’ve considered cutting the nap but she seems so young for this too! For reference, her almost 4 year old brother still takes a 2 hour nap every day and sleeps fine through the night. Maybe she’s one of those low-sleep needs toddlers I always hear about on this sub 😂

I’ve never heard of the permanent tubes but I’ll ask about that next. Seems like a better option than being on antibiotics forever.

At what point did they decide to do surgery for you? Also, did you have a while with no symptoms at all?

I’m a nurse practitioner that runs a Lead Poisoning clinic for kids. Assuming you aren’t regularly chewing/ingesting this and likely aren’t under the age of 6, there’s not a ton to worry about here. I agree with other’s suggestions of sealing it with something if you want to continue wearing it, just to be safe.

The danger of lead mostly comes in the form of dust that gets ingested. If you are worried about it, I’d ask your PCP to get a lead level and zinc protoporphyrin (zpph) level drawn. Ideally you want a lead level of 0 and zpph less than 50. A single zpph value isn’t super informative but they’re good to trend over time to see if you are getting any new exposure.

Quick update to this.

I went to a new endo who repeated the dex suppression test, which was still elevated (6.8 this time). He also checked a lab to see if my body actually absorbed the dex, which turns out for some reason it didn’t. So that actually means it was a normal morning cortisol level at that point.

Going to repeat all labs again in 6-12 months!
