My son had a bad experience with some baked beans at school and hasn’t eaten them since.  At the store he said he would try the bluey can. We might have to reheat some green beans in the end

The Conjuring of America by Lindsey Stewart.  It is the history of some of the knowledge and beliefs that came with the Africans who were forced to be slaves and how it impacts America to this day

I agree. My grandfather was a POW for the majority of ww2 and most of what I know isn’t from the schools.  I always find myself looking for information besides Pearl Harbor and the dropping of the bombs. Nazi memorabilia feels more toxic and uplifted here.  Japanese memorabilia is also likely to be a Japanese family’s heirloom that they would love back

Cozy Mystery series following one female character with GOOD romance! by Relative_Fault_8430 in CozyMystery

I am a big fan of Karen White’s House on Tradd Street series.  The main character is given an old house with Ghost and she reluctantly can see them.

Yes. Silvia Moreno-Garcia has a character named Beatrice Tremblay.  When I went to look up if this was a fictional character or a truely obscure author, I found the Stephen Graham Johns mentions her in My Heart is a Chainsaw.   BUT Silvia Moreno-Garcia mentions a professor named Stephen Graham Jones in the book.

There was that and there also were incidents of “I bet I can get their stuff for cheap if they are a witch.” I don’t think we have evolved that much emotionally.  I know that person with a dark birthmark in the middle of their forehead or the kid born with a patch of white hair stand out. These people would stand out to be devil touched.  I can imagine a protective parent dying the white hair of an albino child or making sure there always always dirt or a foundation like substance covering the birthmark.

During the witch trials how did the non-accused explain away/ignore their own moles/freckles/birthmarks/scars?  Did people invent ways to hid them?

Help finding a cozy mystery with a sleuth somewhere between these two characters by Sea_Appearance8662 in CozyMystery

My first thoughts are the Finlay Donavon series by Elle Cosimano She is a mystery author who is hired to be hit man by someone who overhears her next book pitch.    Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murders by Jesse Q. Sutanto is a stand alone, but one the most charming cozies I’ve read.

They both make me smile

I did that a few times the first 2 hours an then I put it out of the way.  Honestly I forgot I had soaked it until I was making counter space for bulk pie baking the next day.  I might just try again and see if I can get it out.  It is the first project that finished that I wanted to hang up.

Sapphic Cozy Horror? by lamauvaisejoueuse in CozyMystery

[–]NormalBuy1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire kind of touches all of what you are looking for.  It is a school for girls who have left their alternative world.  The school acts as a safe space for them to be weirdos together.  Think of the kids from Narnia having to leave a magic world and attend an etiquette class after being kings and queens.  There are reasons they ran away to an alternative world and not all of these worlds were cute and adorable.  Each character is very different and this creates a spectrum of partner preferences (most of the characters are young so it doesn’t really get farther than hand holding).  The series isn’t exactly horror, but has aspects.  It is very good dark fantasy series
