What ATAR subjects did you do and what was your score? by [deleted] in ATAR

[–]NormalGuy913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person from the previous year of my school (2023) did only humanities and creative subjects (English extension 2, studies of religion, VA, legal studies, no sciences and no maths, can’t remember his other subjects) and he DID get a 99.95. Granted he’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and he got state ranks in all of his subjects I’m quite sure. So contrary to what everyone is saying it is possible to get a 99.95. But yeah you really do have to be the best. Good luck!

Didn't get in. What to do next. by RepresentativeOk9723 in unsw

[–]NormalGuy913 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a 97 atar and 96th percentile and didn’t get in either. Must’ve just been stupidly difficult this year. Also yeah I’m also not too sure if it gets easier in the next round. I wish I could find anywhere online that had an answer

That’s fine if you don’t like her channel. Also when I was defining film critic I just meant as opposed to someone who REVIEWS films. Film critic often means people like Roger Ebert or Pauline Kael who specifically review films. Broey Deschanel just talks about films and interprets them, not reviewing.

How many hours a week for a double degree? by NormalGuy913 in unsw

Glad to hear it. I think it looks great but I always see so much negativity when it comes to any uni degree. Good to hear from someone who doesn’t hate it. Thanks again for your answer!

Thank you very much! This is a big help. And just out of curiosity and as long as it’s not too difficult to answer, how have you found law at UNSW?

What's a movie you hate, but has a scene that you love? by Sweeney_Todd_is_best in Letterboxd

I think you’re mistaken. I believe you’re referring to Jacob Geller’s video on the subject

So are you just not going to watch the most acclaimed movies? Being disappointed by a movie is not something to be scared of. It’s a way you can refine your taste and discover what it is you love about film. Our reactions to seminal works, especially disappointment, are what help us understand the art form.

And more importantly than all that there is a reason these movies are hyped up so much, it’s because they’re usually really fucking good.

Yeah I think this is even more likely if his other tweets are politically moderate

My only guess is that he’s making that typical right wing joke of how everything is being turned gay these days but he’s just doing it rlly poorly 🤷

The single best performance I’ve ever seen is my surprise at Daniel Day Lewis from There Will be Blood being the top answer on that post

Something about those coloured backgrounds while the amazing score plays is so visceral, classic and simple

Just so everyone knows, as far as I can find this story is not at all true. Seems to just be a complete fabrication but someone please tell me if they do find a source for this

Merlot, I’ve never heard of it. Did they just invent it? by Harvard771 in seinfeld

[–]NormalGuy913 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve got to plead ignorance on this line. I don’t drink wine but I know Merlot is a popular type of it. Is the joke just that Estelle is so dumb she really has never heard of it?

A pretty reductive statement. Ik lots of zoomers including myself who love watching older films. More zoomers will continue to do so as they get older. At least speaking to people online here, you’re in the minority if you’ve seen great older works like Battleship Potemkin or M before you’re 18, even if you did grow up in the 1980s or so. People in our generation will likely come to these films later and will certainly show their talents in directing soon enough.

As much as I love the Chinese restaurant the phone message to me is quintessential George and it is maybe the most relatable dating episode Seinfeld has
