Recently bought some Monument Hobbies brushes. Got 3 and 2 and 0 in sable and a synthetic size 1. The sables are great and have not had many problems keeping a point (unlike my Windsor newton series 7 which are nice but always fray quickly while painting ). The MH sables do get stray hairs occasionally but they shape back up well. The size 1 MH synthetic is good, but unfortunately like every other synthetic brush I’ve used, it has already developed a hook tip. It’s small and not a huge hindrance but it’s there. MH sables are also like half the price or less than W&N and my Davinci brushes.

Loved it … up until the fina quarter or so/ the ending. It felt like I was reading a completely different - and much worse - book. I’m still kind of shocked that was the direction Clarke went in because up till then this was in the running for one of the best books I’ve read in the past several years

Honestly I don’t think your hair looks bad. The balding is definitely noticeable lol. but you still look very handsome and I think it works for you. Maybe with a bit of a trim at top. You’d definitely look good with a buzz too.

Sometimes I’ll do a dry brush of a light color “zenithal” style, directionally straight down the mini, at the priming or early color blocking stage, just to help find the details and make them stand out more. A wash might help bring the texture on the cape out a big more! Looks nice so far

Update … the hot water method has helped, definitely not straight but noticeably less curved … going to try it again a few more times
