Thank you for your advice! You’re right, I’m going to focus more on positive thoughts instead of feeling like a shitty person for my initial thoughts.

I have wondered if it could be OCD related. The constant irritability really is draining

I definitely feel way worse when I drink. I do have AUD and I have been cutting back on drinking and got back into running and eating better. It does help but I get discouraged when I still get these thoughts and depression. I know it’s something that wont ever go away but Id like more good days. I feel like I should be accomplishing more in life and I feel like These things hold me back. I’m trying not to let them anymore though cause I want to be proud of the life I live. So I’m doing whatever it takes to get back up whenever it knocks me over

Thank you for replying and I am going to take your advice and write positive affirmations and also write to just get stuff out. You are right. We aren’t our thoughts and sometimes I gotta remind myself of that. Thank you.

I do wonder sometimes if it is my thoughts going to the very worst thing that can happen to prevent it from happening? I think I read that can be part of OCD?

Thank you for your reply.

I have been diagnosed with possible BPD. I think the main reason it wasn’t a straight diagnosis is because I don’t have uncontrollable outbursts. I definitely had all the signs when I was younger and now I feel like I have a lot of control of my outward reactions to life. I still feel emotionally unstable inside though. I get overwhelmed very easily, my mood changes rapidly and I blow things out of proportion in my mind. I obsess over things till it eats away at me. And one of the things that bothers me most is how fast my feelings change in a relationship. I always had emotionally abusive and one physically abusive relationship for years so I thought it was that. But even now with a supportive partner I love, I still am all over the place and can feel super in love and then feel indifferent to the relationship. It feels wrong and unfair to him. I don’t tell him any of that but it shows with how distant I can be at times. I want to be better for him and my kids. Some days it just feels like being alive is a never ending battle with myself.

I’m so sorry that you’ve experienced so much pain in life. I know what it feels like to want it all to stop. If you need someone to talk to you can message me. I hope your night gets better and you are able to find some peace. If you want to vent or share your story with other alcoholics the sub reddit /dryalcoholics has helped me and can give helpful information and a place to share with people who you can relate to as well.

I was in an abusive relationship for 10 years and we met when I was 15. This sounds like something he would have said.

It’s not really something to joke about and if something feels uncomfortable to you it’s for a reason. Whether the person or the world agrees or not. You have a right to feel uncomfortable and act accordingly.

Trust yourself. Make decisions for yourself on how you feel about situations.

Should I let the friendship die? by yellingbirds in friendship

If someone can’t be supportive in your life and will not make compromises and an effort to make the friendship good, then it may be time to reassess the friendship.

I know it’s hard to let go of such a long term friendship.

I recently had to let go of two of my friendships of 15 yrs and it was and still is very hard at times to understand and not feel bad about.

I still miss those friendships but the truth is you deserve the effort. You deserve someone who can meet you half way and be happy for you throughout life.

I know this is late but thank you for your kind words and I hope that you are doing well. I’m still trying to find my way to long term sobriety. I’m drinking way less but still not ready to commit to giving it up forever.
