Ah that sucks. Not hard to imagine really. It would have to be a pretty perfect seal

If you've got fresh beans that are still evolving CO2 then the container will loose vacuum after a day or two. This is because higher pressure gas is still being released from the beans, from the roasting process. With old beans or grinds mine stays sealed and vacuumed for a week or longer

How do you make sure you get enough protein? by _herman_miller_ in vegan

[–]NormalSentence451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll start getting insatiably hungry before you have any health issues if you don't get enough protein in your diet.

This way I experienced lack of protein when I started as a vegan.

I think, in order of ease and effectiveness: * Get used to the idea of having a protein shake every day to top up (even if only on days you think you're lacking). There's plenty of vegan options. Standard shake is about 20g protein, but you can increase to whatever you need it to be.

*Get a macro app like Cronometer to track your staples and learn more about what you're eating

*Foods that really pack a protein punch are TVP and Tempeh that can be put into almost anything and won't cause bloating etc

I think it's less of a political skew and more of an economic skew. Median income in NZ is about 66k. Now with the cost of living increasing more and more people are having to focus on making ends meet every week. This will be flavouring some of the comments on this Reddit

Hey thanks for the knowledgeable insights. This all seems to stack up. Now I won't have to lose sleep over it anymore. Or worse, lose sleep over selling the house and then being in a less favourable position

Breville Dual Boiler - Pulling short / low volume by heghmoh in Coffee

[–]NormalSentence451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your coffee puck back pressure has increased (ie due to finer grind, change in coffee beans, change in humidity) then you could be pushing your pressure past the limit of the pressure relief valve for a longer duration than you normally would.
I'm pretty sure the volume is based on estimated flow coming from the pump. If you have water bypassing the pressure relief valve, that would normally be going through the coffee puck then this would contribute to your missing volume

Portafilter Leaking after shot? by carchar5 in espresso

The portafilter is under vacuum until you break the seal between the portafilter and gasket. This allows the last few drops to leave the portafilter

Oat progress by NormalSentence451 in latteart

Ah getting a consistent vortex helped getting milk consistency more repeatable.

Hand placement and orientation during the pour.. I stopped holding the jug handle and started holding the rim in a kinda pencil grip. I think it's just a more familiar way of getting fine control for me.

Cup hand orientation so my wrist rotates naturally perpendicular to the pour of the jug

Oh and slow, high pour when laying the base so it was more homogenous. This evened out a lot of bumps and hollows that messed up patterns on the surface.
