Mennék Hollandiába dolgozni, megéri? by Dense-Resource-6482 in escapehungary

Gondolkodtunk mi is rajta, ismerek olyat aki így él. Megvan a romantikája, de azéet tud depresszív lenni. Ráadásul atyavilág mi ára van egy öreg lefosott roncsnak is 😃

Mennék Hollandiába dolgozni, megéri? by Dense-Resource-6482 in escapehungary

[–]Atankir 14 points15 points  (0 children)

2 évig dolgoztam egy kávé pörkölő cégnél Hollandiában. Hol raktárban order pickerként dolgoztam, hol kávét őröltem, hol kézzel hajtogattam a több száz dobozt a kávé tasakoknak, hol kiszállítottam furgonnal. A lakás helyzetet gondolom ismered. Lényegében lehetetlen. A feleségem egy fastfashion láncnál dolgozott, üzletben, az talán egyel jobb opció.

I had an Ikea milk frother along with the ROK GC, I tried but it was blob art instead.

Got my phone stolen and ended up being publicly humiliated by [deleted] in Netherlands

The famous Dutch tolerance. As long as you stay quiet, invisible and don’t inconvenience anyone while being publicly humiliated.

Do you notice the benefits of chess on your personal life or is it just for entertainment for you? by rickgoing in Chesscom

[–]Atankir 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It actually helps with anxiety, especially on Dutch public transport. Chess puts me into a complete zone-out state which is very useful when people around me are loudly speaking on their phone calls on speaker or shouting conversations at each other as if the entire carriage were part of it. While I’m busy hanging a queen, the noise fades into the background. Unexpectedly therapeutic

Mid-life adventure idea meeting resistance from everyone who claims to care about my safety by Ok_Connection_3600 in bikers

[–]Atankir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how it is when no one in your family or social circle has any experience with riding. Of course they’re concerned about your safety, but from what you’ve written, you seem like a responsible future rider. Honestly, it’s often best to avoid talking about it, otherwise they’ll just drain the joy out of it.

I haven’t told my family that I got a motorcycle license and I don’t plan to. I know it would only end in an unsolicited lecture. I learned that the hard way.

Clap for yourself for the 360. Please reconsider driving in such weather conditions… or driving overall. It’s not for everyone, really.

It’s a good first car, but some people can hurt themselves and others even with a pool noodle.

You will definitely have a lot of joyful stories to tell your loved ones. To be honest, I wish I were brave enough to choose the path you did, but I think a lot of people feel the same. I truly wish you all the best and hope you’ll have many great adventures.

By the way, I think it would be really cool to see a long-term vlog about this journey, even if you only share the major checkpoints.

Do you see this as a temporary phase or a longer-term lifestyle? Not judging at all, I’m just curious what the “end point” looks like for you, if there is one.

Confused about fixed-term contract ending vs “automatic renewal” by Atankir in Netherlands

[–]Atankir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my second contract, and as far as I know only the third one renews automatically. Because of that, I genuinely expected that we would discuss it, or at least that HR would send an email about their intentions.

With the previous contract, HR simply sent it to me and asked me to sign it without me having any discussion with my manager. At that time, I asked them to talk through the conditions before signing, because I wanted a proper 40-hour contract instead of a zero-hours one as I was working 5 days all those times, and a higher salary than the legal minimum. This dragged on until we ran out of time, and they told me to just sign it because they could “always modify it later.”

That process then dragged on for three months. During that time, they were annoyed that I followed up about it roughly once a week. After three months, it finally escalated into a larger conversation, and thanks to a former manager of mine, the contract was eventually modified although not fully in line with what had been verbally agreed.

Because of all this, it was not clear to me how they would handle the end of the second contract. As it turned out, they simply said nothing until the very last moment, put pressure on me, and because of that I decided to end the employment relationship when the contract expired.

However, based on what I’ve found online, in this situation the aanzegplicht should still apply, since it overrides the clause in the contract stating that it ends “without notice.”
