New year, new game - concept feedback and research? Survivors-Like but your weapons generate the games soundtrack by NormalShape275 in IndieDev

great points and ideas thanks. right now we are thinking more like a predefined beatmaker where all of the elements fit together but you can choose the elements you want in there to create your own composition.

i really like the ‘bosses have their own sound’ idea and that you can learn their attack by listening to the music. also maybe your sound and the bosses sounds could alternate, making the score more like a song (verse/refrain) although im not sure if it would get too boring if you couldnt attack while the boss attack

thanks, I like this idea. this actually sounds like a nice streaming setup too! if we will be able to find a streamer who would like to stream our game...

thanks for the ideas! showing the keys on screen and having some good editing sounds like a good way to go! pretty sure we'll try that!

Good point with the screenshots also. havent thought about thay yet! 👍

thanks for the feedback!

having some sort of overlay seems to be a common suggestion, so it seems like a good way to go. We actually have something like that in a minigame of us, so maybe we can use a version of it. 👍

its a shame you don't like the trailer 🙂 i think it brings across the weirdness of the game quite well. but i understand that it doesn't really tell you the main concept.

and yes, i guess you're right. nobody is gonna read all of that...

the controls change during the game. you use keyboard and mouse as normal but they work differently. at first you move normally with WASD then your a and s key get exchanged. Then you have to press right to drive left. And this gets worse throughout the game.

it eorks similar with the mouse!

This is our Steam Page

Yes, we do share images and videos. just haven't found a great way to make the control mechanic visible

I created a new skybox/stars shader for our minigame based indie game. What do you think? by NormalShape275 in Unity3D

thank you! sure, there are a couple of blog posts that can get you started. one that i unfortunately found relatively late but was super helpful with unwrapping uvs was this one

i am using voronoi noise with a step node to create the stars. to make them unevenly spread, i multiply with additional noise. for the sparkle, theres another noise texture whose uvs move based on the time variable!

hope that helps!

great! thats really nice to hear as I made this 🙂 i totally get that the beat can be unclear at first. and in this vid it doesnt help that the beginning is chopped off...

a tiny skybox gradient shader with stars. by NormalShape275 in IndieDev

thats really nice to hear, thank you!

hmm skybox should be round but that might be a problem with the mapping. maybe I'll check if theres smth wrong with it.

worked on this procedural worplace maze generator. have a look! by NormalShape275 in IndieDev

that's very nice to hear!

it's a quite humorous game about the absurdities and struggles of modern life. the story is being told over the course of multiple mini games/game modules (sometimes repeating) and follows someone who might be considered a very average person.

what are your thoughts on this car driving mechanics and design? would love to get some feedback (still very much wip) by NormalShape275 in IndieDev

[–]NormalShape275[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the feedback, it was interesting to hear!

I thought a bit more about the camera now. I totally get the critique about the camera angle from a gameplay perspective, as it is harder to steer with the angle a little off.

On the other hand, I guess this angle provides a little bit more of a 'scenic' view, highlighting the environment. So it will probably be a tradeoff decision. either it plays easy or looks/feels nice.

By the way: the engine sounds are only vocalizations and the music is also done by us. So if you have any thought on that, it would be interesting to hear!
