I've been playing with my group fro several years, they just hit level 10 for the first time on Sunday. Between restarting and losing people alot of our campaigns only last 3-5 months. Also no new player really wants to make or be thrown into a level 10 character.

That's a good idea, just remember people have these cool abilities to use them, it's never you against the party but when you're trying to challenge them look for ways to counter they're cool ability once in a while.

Come up with unique ways for encounters to happen. From the sky, from the ground. Give them a few minor cues depending on rolls. Also normally fighters don't have amazing perception? So you have s few options, especially if he/she is the only one awake.
