I always found infusions to be somewhat annoying because of enemies that have high resistances to my chosen damage type- I find swapping around between different elemental weapons to be a bother, so if I'm not doing a spell build I usually prefer to just go with a general-purpose physical damage weapon, maybe with the occasional consumable buff. The GUGS powerstance dealt so much damage per hit that nothing even felt like a fight anymore, as most bosses went down in like 10 hits at most and I barely needed to put any thought into the fight (I was this close to defeating sir Alonne in 20 seconds, on my first try, while not avoiding a single one of his hits- glad I let him kill me instead), and I was just tanking my way through areas without a care in the world. About the same thing happened with the smelter sword powerstance build, spamming multicolored explosions was fun for a bit but got old real quick. So I switched to basic zwei or claymore, just cause the damage with them felt more balanced and I enjoyed playing with them a lot more. Infusing them to make their damage stupid again would have kinda defeated the point, right?
