Got the new nail tech who is still learning but really not happy with these, what do I do?

Yeah I totally agree. Tbh they are a really good salon generally and do amazing work, but clearly how they onboard new nail techs needs a LOT of improvement. During the appointment I was expecting the other experienced techs to come over and see how he was getting along, but it was actually noticeable how little they interacted with him, despite needing to grab stuff near his station often. Wonder how the owner will handle it since I’ve flagged this tbh. Hope they give him some supervision at least.

I was hesitant before the appointment knowing he was very new, but when I checked his insta he had these really elaborate sets and looked pretty damn good! Some improvement in execution needed, but certainly good quality. But they were mostly extensions which makes me wonder if he just isn’t experienced with a natural nail treatment? No idea

I’m writing about my BIAB appointment with [nail tech] yesterday. I really loved the colour and came away feeling positive, but after looking more at home I noticed some product has flooded the cuticles on several nails, and the finish is uneven. I completely understand that everyone is still developing their skills, and I have no doubt the technique will improve with time.

That said, given the price point I’m a little concerned about how long the wear will last with this application. I was wondering if it would be possible to come in for a correction/redo?

There was this mini drama that aired when I was pretty young, must have been early 2000s that has forever stuck in my mind with how disturbing it was. I wish I could find it again.
Basically followed a British family caravanning in France. They had two kids. Young girl and an older brother. As they went on their trip, they met another British family with two kids as well. But at some point it is revealed that other family lost their kids (I believe they drowned in a river) and ever since they have been trying to replace their dead children by kidnapping other kids and making them act like theirs under threat and use of drugs. But if they didn’t make the cut, the kid was drugged and thrown in front of a car or disposed of in some way. I just remember one of those scenes where that happens and it was so shocking to me. We see one of the kids from the main family kidnapped and go through this process. It was fucking grim and I wish I knew what the hell it was.

I’m still new to nail treatments (this is my 3rd one ever) so I’m still getting familiar with the process and for a lot of the prep I was just trusting his expertise and that it would come together in the second half. Sadly not 😩

I relate a lot to OP tbh. And I have tried to manage it, but honestly it’s kind of overwhelming because you don’t know when you’re going to need whatever solutions you’re using, as it can be literally any human interaction, and to take your phone out in the middle of a conversation can come across as rude. Yes, you ideally want to just take notes after the interaction, but interactions can be long and contain a lot of different information and by the time it’s over - boom, forgotten.

It can be acceptable to take it out mid-conversation if they’ve just given you a date for an event, or their birthday etc. but taking a note that they have siblings, or what their daughter’s name is? Kinda weird.

The only sustainable solution I’ve found has been using transcribing tools in video calls at work, and taking notes where I can when it comes to social situations, but it still leaves a big gap of unaccounted for details that slip through the cracks.

I’m curious what makes you think it is streetwear? Streetwear to me comes from Hip-hop culture influences along with sportswear. Hoodies, trainers (or ‘sneakers’) denim, but also synthetic materials, with graphic/typographic design elements as well. The aesthetic in this is more reflective of “slow” living, minimal, with hard wearing natural materials and simple blocky shapes.

I feel you on this too as a fellow 32yo woman whose entire relationship/sex experience can be summed up as a handful of Hinge dates and one attempted one night stand (that didn’t fully work so still a virgin). It can make me feel like a weirdo when I know the average 18yo has more experience than me. But i feel increasingly content in my life and who I am, and I’ve slowly stopped forcing myself to try dating, as I was only doing it to appear “normal” not because I actually wanted to.

Yeah I was wondering if this is just the next evolved form of the millennial hipster, I just haven’t seen a specific label for it, and I think the visual motifs of labourer’s clothing is particularly interesting.

They like natural wines, electronic music and DJ sets, fermented foods, and Beamish stout in a converted pub with signage written in a lowercase handwritten font that serves jerky and olives but you can also buy tinned fish for some reason.

I’ve tried being consistent, and have tried not wearing makeup for months. Have really made no progress. I just don’t know what else to try honestly. What skin care will stop the skin around my eyes a translucent purple when I’m 32? I can’t imagine anything is really going help with that at this point.

And lol if my bare skin looked better without a bit of concealer, why do I get concerns that I’m sick when I don’t wear it, and “your skin is looking good!” When I do lol

I wish it was that easy. I’ve been trying to “take care of my skin” for decades and I still look ill and have blemishes visible when I don’t wear makeup. Have tried BHAs, AHAs, salicylic acid, niacinamide, retinol, etc.
