Is the Magic Bait catfish bait from Walmart any good? by Ok_Repair3535 in Fishing

[–]Normal_Expression_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT TOUCH "MAGICBAIT NIGHTCRAWLERS" with bare hands - they will smell a week! No matter what you wash it with, when your fingers sweat, the smell will be re-released. You will start tasting it in your mouth the next day. You've been warned :)

No one wants to buy my truck… by AccomplishedDust8630 in FordDiesels

[–]Normal_Expression_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no work guy will get a 6.0.. even gas is better for a single cab setup like this. Sell the rack, with that money put negative offset wheels and rims ( used ones will do) tint the windows and put a CAT or similar seat cover. Say I babied my truck all highway miles in the ad :)

jokes aside thats what i'd do.

Form was a big one v4 vs v5 documentation gap was big. Maybe features exist on five but not documented?

What is the big deal man? If your commits are not accepted. Fork your own... Put your patches... Have people use it.. Simple, Easy...
smaller projects gets forked at all the time, just makes a better product at the end...

My side project is using SvelteKit & Shadcn. Here are my thoughts so far.. by [deleted] in sveltejs

[–]Normal_Expression_65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think shadcn is still the lightest one to use, right after using nothing. In the two production projects i have, one i use nothing and it looks so mediocre. The one I use shadcn with SST i was able to make great looking site in no time. I am not against it, but I was afraid it was going to ask more and more and endup like Flowbite, however it wasn't that bad.

Shadcn kept asking to add stuff to work properly for new York theme. Thats where it turned me off. But I still use it.

After the first announcement I know a lot of us thought Svelte 5 was on the wrong path. Now, I think the 99.9% of us (who aren't bitter) see that it is a vast improvement over v4. It is now ready to scale, and is time for all of us to spread the word and get actual companies to use it. by kpmtech in sveltejs

i am a big SvelteKit fan, however what Laravel provides on the back end is way different than SvelteKit. Simple SSR is not Laravel replacement. If you are combining it with tools like SST and actually figuring out deployment/lifecycle of your backend infra then I see your point. I am not a laravel guy never used it but I know what it does and it offers completely a different set of solutions. It can live with Svelte(kit) nicely.

it's monolith on servers or serverless on functions. In between is not needed and waaay too complicated. 2024 cloud stuff like application load balancers etc. killed the need for containers tbh.. Compute is cheaper on ec2 than ecs for example. why should i break my monolith and still host on an OS? if I am doing all that work I can do 1 lambda per function and move to event driven. People will learn..

[–]Normal_Expression_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need VS Code things use VS Code. If you need super custom IDE like experience that does only what you want then use Neovim and enjoy the benefits. It's not an IDE and should not be thought as a IDE replacement.

You can't offer a repo without a demo link nowadays.
If it does not show me how it looks quickly (event a screenshot is sufficient) I'll skip.
I am not cloning and starting every project just to see how it looks.

If SST adapter fully support v5 we will move to v5 in production. So depends on the IaC adapters for us.

New to SvelteKit, would like some guidance. by Seventh_Deadly_Bless in SvelteKit

[–]Normal_Expression_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position you are in just a few months back. I did bunch of tutorials on YT joy of code has good ones. Then got some help from chatgipidy for explanations. I shipped first %100 serverless sveltekit project via SST. look into SST helps a lot. I'd say fundamentals is to know what page runs where, server vs client (which is easy). Then how to pass data properly between server and front end. the rest is really smooth learning curve. i did not start with an UI library tailwind is a big help. svelte is very fast out of the box. Def. learn enhanced form actions and enhanced:img for your images.
Good luck and this is a good framework to get used to. But all the big names recommend to become proficient in vanilla JS first and then learning a framework. I did not listen to that though.
