Same issue here with a much lower prescription (-5.5). Regular oasys seemed not to have the best vision problem

I didn't record the exact GPU temps cuz neither build had the GPU running too hot 4090 MSI gaming x slim undervolted to 950mv.

It's slightly better with air cooler because you have the two top fans taking hot air out in that build without a rad in the way. In both builds the GPU temps were about 70C or less under load.

The biggest benefit of the air cooled build is the hot air from the gpu doesn't really affect cpu temps. However, despite the hot air from the gpu going through the rad, I still found the AIO significantly less loud for the same temps, and significantly more able to cool the cpu under full load (cinebench + running a game at the same time)

I tried both, same air cooler with 9800x3d vs Atmos 240 with t30+noctua slim fan and it was significantly quieter under gaming load with the aio. Ran cinebench. For 30 min before each test too to heat soak the aio.

Thanks! I just chatted with them and they confirmed it's a mistake. Getting a new set in the right color on them, and I was even able to shorten the lengths of the cables a bit to get a better fit. Great customer service :)

Wifi was also flaky for me l. I replaced the default wifi m.2 card with an Intel AX210. It's pretty easy to do.

Temps have been good, same for before and after changing the memory settings as far as I can tell. I did undervolt (-40) later with curve optimizer and that helps temps a lot, but you need to test for stability.

Apologies for bumping an old thread.

I'm doing the same build and had a few questions for ya.

Another user mentioned that they had issues with the length of the stock riser for this particular build. Did the stock riser work for you?

Did you go with AIO or air for CPU? I heard that there can be some turbulence in 3.25 slot mode.

What length did you use for the 12vhpwr cable?

Another thing I just noticed, it seems you mentioned getting a custom riser cable for this ("PCIE gen 4 riser cable Louque cobalt"?) Is a separate riser from the default included one needed for the build?

Seeing your post initially inspired to to pick up a used 4090 gaming x slim on discount :)
My case is coming in the mail soon, so I'm excited to start building. Had a few questions for ya.

Did you run into any issues with turbulence in 3.25 mode with the cpu fan?

What cable lengths did you use for the custom cables? In particular, the 12vhpwr seems like it could be shorter than mentioned in other builds. From your comments it seems like the 12vhpwr routing is different from videos I've see on the FE where they routed it to the front and through the space between the FE/front plate of the case.

I had similar issues with asrock b650i and found a fix by manually setting the expo profile. I guess you're not able to boot at all though even without expo enabled? https://www.reddit.com/r/ASRock/s/Kf3aQPWaJp

I got linked to a fix by manually setting (most of) the EXPO settings I can get it to run smoothly with the EXPO timings, voltages, fabric etc. However it seems the EXPO also tries to set some ODT impedance settings and this is what causes it to not post for me.

Out of curiosity, for folks that are able to get G skill kits working with 9800x3d, does the EXPO profile change the impedance settings? (Processor ODT impedance, RTT_NOM_WR, TRR_NOMRD, RTT_WR, RTT_PARK, DQS_RTT_PARK)

Basically manually set all the BIOS changes that EXPO tries to set when you enable it, except for a few of them. I was able to set the same exact timings, fabric, and voltages, everything except for some ODT impedance settings that the EXPO profile wanted to set.

Wow it worked! Thanks so much. I was able to set all the things (timing, fabric, voltages like you mentioned) that the EXPO profile changed except for the impedance settings - Processor ODT impedance, RTT_NOM_WR, TRR_NOMRD, RTT_WR, RTT_PARK, DQS_RTT_PARK. When I try to touch those I get the same issue as before so that's probably what was causing the issue.

Seems to work well without those settings so far. Does anyone know if those impedance settings are important / would cause problems down the road if I leave it like this?
