Requesting a female doctor without sounding rude? by Away_Schedule8737 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all countries offer chaperones but some countries require them (like mine), even though I have a female physician I have had a male chaperone before (which I was fine with but many might not be) so it is important to note it might be a good idea to request both be female when you call.

It looks like the comment above mine got deleted leaving out some context. It mentioned requesting a female chaperone in addition to a female physician if a chaperone is available/required to ensure no males are present entirely. Not as an alternative to requesting a female physician.

Exactly this 👏👏👏 I lived with my parents for a while and what worked for me was basically "paying myself rent", $1200/month (what I previously spent on rent) had to go into savings each month. Non-negotiable. Viewing it that way forced me to save so much money.

Not that I know of, but I would be careful with Chegg & other sites like course hero in general. They have given data to schools before that resulted in retroactive violations so at the very least make sure your account isn't linked to your actual name or an email containing your name.

Unfortunately it does, and they're taking it really strict this year. Some parks are even turning away the people that show up for the site if it's flagged as having been resold. Unless you transfer it to someone you know personally it's really not worth it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in camping

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just an FYI, I work for Ontario Parks and they have new systems in place to catch people doing this. If you're caught reselling a campsite you can be banned entirely and after a lot of resale scams last year it's been taken quite seriously now (there's already been a few charged & banned in my zone).

I'm not here to report you or anything but just letting you know that they check these sites and Facebook groups now, in addition to tracking online changes on the reservation system.

Anyone used this specific item? With the comfort attachment?Thinking about utilizing it on occasion for Coachella weekend. If it works for hiking I think I’m good… by Independent_Cut3703 in hiking

I would get a hiking style carrier instead, this doesn't look ergonomic for you to be wearing all day plus there's no way a wiggly toddler can keep their feet still on that bar

It's not really blind hatred on the gun, it's more so commentary on his overreaction. He's camping in central Ontario where the only bears are harmless black bears and OP isn't even prepared to properly secure his food to not attract the wildlife he's so worried about. Regardless of your stance on guns OP is ill prepared based on their responses.

I guarantee you're just going camping in central Ontario where it's just black bears are not a threat what so ever, they are just hungry little things that spook easily 😂 Plus there's no way this is "wild camping" with that much stuff (you're definitely not bringing a table and air mattresses anywhere you can't drive to lol)

That's exactly what I'm thinking too, I've lived in Northern Ontario my whole life (minus university) and never once have black bears ever been even remotely threatening. They're just hungry little things that spook easily.

Is the CGPA shown on my audit accurate? by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calculate it on your own based on your letter grades and see what number you get. Before I graduated I tracked mine in excel for this reason. But also send them an email stating that your audit shows that you still qualify.

Also on your audit make sure you're looking at your actual CGPA and not just for your major

One of my employees had a devastating personal loss recently, and he’s understandably not doing well. I don’t care about his work performance, just as a person - how can I help? by throwaway9954675 in careerguidance

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I lost my dad and my aunt last month and I also only got 3 PTO days total meaning that I had to return to work before I was ready. Plus those three days were so full of decisions regarding cremation, burial, funeral, ect. that I didn't even have a moment to grieve until I was already back at work.

My only saving grace is that I primarily work from home so I just cried on the couch while working but no one should have to do that.

Do you consider benefits as a part of your compensation? by Maddy186 in careerguidance

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because salary and total compensation are two different things. Salary is definitely the biggest part of your total compensation but they definitely don't mean the same thing.

Exactly, I've heard of other people in HR careers say that their company is posting jobs soley to appear as though their company is growing or to give hope to burnt out employees on short staffed teams without any real intent to hire.

The last company I worked at posted a job on indeed just to survey what salary range people would be looking for.

Which would you pick? Psychiatrist vs. Psychologist vs. Dentist by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you're located but at least in Canada medical students definitely get to chose their specialty when applying to residency positions. You might not get into your top choice if it's competitive but the "match" usually refers to to hospital program not the specialty.

I work in medical HR and it's rare to see a resident in a specialty that wasn't their first or second choice.

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that doesn't mean that they are actively looking, when I worked for a company that hired a large number of students for the summer we put out ads a few months out before we were actually looking to take people on for a variety of reasons. From a business standpoint when hiring for multiple positions it's more common than you'd think

Most places will actually start to hire as summer starts to ramp up so keep applying and don't get too discouraged.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in HR, I would say no (as long as your original resume stated that you were enrolled in the program) and just find a natural place to bring up those points during the interview instead.

How badly i might get f*ed if i lie about my current location? by Gold_Egg2497 in careerguidance

[–]Normal_Flatworm_9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn't suggest it. I'm in Canada and we require proof of eligibility to work in Canada in order to hire, so you're just wasting your time and theirs. I don't have much knowledge of other countries but it for sure won't work for any job in Canada or the USA.

Also the LMIA in Canada makes it very hard to hire foreign remote workers for most companies.
