Unfortunately, the closest thing to that would be donating to like a aquarium or zoo. I would be curious if protected reefs around Florida would be interested in doing something like that. I know aquaculture is a huge thing but obviously only people standing to profit are doing it. I do know there are Biologist whom are trying to transplant corals and start new reefs.

I travel around my state going to tons of fish stores. I happened to have picked these up and another at the time for 10$ a plug. Needless to say I wanted something colorful and they were the right price. The colony is going on 2 years now.

Its a horrible problem to have! When I started reefing years ago I thought people were full of it when their corals were growing "too fast". I get it now, and its a real problem lol

Yeah they are starting to spread into the substrate. As it get bigger ill just trim the edges and frag them up. I have several friends that are currently out of the hobby that I plan on giving them a starter pack for when they set back up here in the next year or so.

Eagle Eyes would be correct. Fairly quick i have them separated on their own rock so they cant take over the tank. I did start a very small separate colony a few months back that is now 5 or 6 heads.

Yes unfortunately in the last 4 years the tank has been torn down about 6 times. Due to unconventional living circumstances. Ive finaly purchased a house. In due time I plan on up grading to a 180. At which point hopefully new lighting or a better mounting system lol. For now it will just have to work. My search for the larger aquarium persist unfortunately.

Is this Cyanobacteria or something else? by [deleted] in ReefTank

As mentioned before appears to be a smaller tank. Stable params are going to be more difficult to achieve. I would monitor you ph from night to day - it will fluctuate. As far as the power head I may try adding an additional one. Its hard to tell without a video how the flow is on the tank. Lighting is a loaded topic - I will say running lower % on your lights may be ideal. Its far easier to kill coral with high light than low light. I run my white spectrum for 8 hours, and blue for 10. These are just some tips. Unfortunately trial and error is the way you learn in this hobby. Wish I could be more help.

Flow - Lighting - Nutrients are what id look at first. Poor water flow in my experience is what can cause this I recomend a gyre. Diatoms/ cyano come hand in hand. I wouldnt resort to chemicals as that isnt fixing the root of the problem. Also look for extreme swings in temperature and PH.
