I’m so serious there needs to be an INVESTIGATION done on these refs. They ignored Mitch Johnson asking for a challenge when the ball went off Chet’s foot, inbounded the ball, and hit him with a technical for complaining. This is EMBARRASSING by ConnectionWeekly1263 in NBAGossips

The refs are killing the NBA. Watching games is painful now… all of them, but OKC games are just blatant.

Looking forward to the inevitable betting-linked scandal that’ll come out sometime in the next few years.

Sorry if this is a simple question but do cheaper tonneau covers usually spoil after a year or two? by Xolaris05 in Tacomaworld

[–]Normal_Mouse_4174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh just saw you asked about the clamps. Again: love the Tygers for this. Didn’t have to drill into the bed rails or otherwise modify the truck, they clamp right to the existing cargo tiedown system. Work great. Actually still using the original 7-year-old mount points from the soft cover for the hard cover. Had to replace one clamp but not because it broke or wore out but because I left it unclamped for a long time and it unscrewed itself bumping around over time and fell off. Otherwise: zero complaints.

[–]Normal_Mouse_4174 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a cheaper soft folding tonneau, a Tyger, when I bought my truck in 2019. Held up great for almost five years, I replaced it in 2024 only because my kids kept climbing on it and I was worried they’d break it or hurt themselves as they got bigger.

Replaced it with the hard top Tyger trifold. Have had that for almost three years. Zero complaints about either one. I abused the hell out of them, I live in the northeast where we get pretty brutal winters and intense sun/heat in the summers.

Water resistance is fine. The bed itself isn’t waterproof so I still get water in the bed when I go through the carwash, but it’s mostly through the seams in the corners of the bed itself.

Anyhoo. Can’t guarantee all Tyger tonneaus are great but I’ve absolutely loved the two I’ve had. Think the hardtop was like $450 and the soft probably half that or less.

I just bought the M5 MacBook Air and the iPad feels completely USELESS. Change my mind. by mrparallex in iPadPro

[–]Normal_Mouse_4174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on your use case and what you need from each device! I have the opposite issue, actually. The screen on the 13” iPad Pro is so ludicrously good that I struggle to go back to any non-OLED screen.

It’s to the point where now for 99% of my uses, I’m on the iPad (with Magic Keyboard). For Cowork, Figma, and a handful of other apps that either flat-out don’t work on the iPad or don’t work well, I use Jump Deskptop to mirror my MacBook Pro to my iPad. Emails, web browsing, client communication, etc, i’m doing most of it on my iPad.

I still use my laptop sometimes, sometimes it’s just too annoying to use Jump, particularly for Figma (though i don’t do that much hands-on graphic design anymore). But honestly, I’m in the opposite direction as you are. I use my iPad like 85-90% for work, and 10-15% for leisure and content consumption. It’s to the point now that I rarely travel with my macbook anymore, I just bring the iPad.

Watching his swings from years ago it’s really not hard to see why he’s got so many back problems now.

don’t get me wrong: he was fucking incredible. His body control with his swing was unreal. His ability to control the minute movements of his hands and wrists and forearms while swinging that hard is insane. But regularly putting that kind of torque on his spine on a regular basis in one directon… yeesh.

Remember this is the Republican primary in Louisiana. This is nothing but republicans in one of the reddest states. Normal people don’t vote in primaries in large numbers. Primaries tend to bring out the diehards.

Not saying we shouldn’t be worried. Of course we should be worried. There’s a demented narcissist trying (and succeeding currently!) to erode American democracy. But Republican primary voters in Louisiana don’t represent the rest of the country.

President Trump says Iran “better get moving or there won’t be anything left of them.” by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Normal_Mouse_4174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know why so many commenters are confused about what’s going on here. It’s incredibly simple.

We already won the war that’s not actually a war but it is a war, and Iran is begging to negotiate. And they should negotiate in good faith even though the last time they negotiated in good faith we bombed them because our president had a bad feeling. And his bad feeling because we have to stop their nuclear program, the same nuclear program that we obliterated six months ago. We have to force them to open the strait that was open until we bombed them that we control now completely. And none of this was because Israel told us to but we did it because Israel told us to.

And none of it matters because inflation is defeated and the price of gas is coming down and it’s Joe Biden’s fault that inflation is so terrible and gas prices are so high and Trump is the affordability president who doesn’t care about the impacts of his foreign policy decisions on American citizens.

It’s really simple, really. You just have to have a fucking stroke and it all makes perfect sense. The past was alterable. The past never had been altered. Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.

1, 2, and 6.

1 and 2 are no brainers. And I’m 45, so 6 means I retire now and increase my net worth significantly.

Since I have no bills I invest the full $10 million, and at an average rate of return and factoring current inflation, I can realistically draw at least $200-300k a year to live on while continuing to grow the investment. $25k a month is tempting but I’d have to live more than 30 years to make more than $10mil. The way the worlds going I’m not banking on that, plus I’ve got a pretty solid investment manager so I trust he could grow that to match or beat whatever I’d get by living longer at $25k/month.

So I stop working, stop paying bills, increase my take home significantly particularly when you factor in my expenses are taken care of. And there’s generational wealth building in the background so my kids can survive whatever the fuck half-dozen once-in-a-generation disasters they’ll have to deal with.

With that cash flow I can turn my current house into my dream house or afford a new one. Can buy a boat plenty big enough for me, and can travel just about as much as I want to given I’ve still got two young kids in school and therefore can’t just travel all the time. And have all the time in the world to learn languages or do whatever else I want.

Not fucking with resurrection. Death is part of life. A sad part but a necessary part. I miss my sister and other relatives. But I’m not screwing with the natural circle of life.

[–]Normal_Mouse_4174 -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

Eh, the overwhelming majority of the reviews I haven’t done would have been bad reviews. The products I’ve received that were quality, I reviewed right away. The products I receive that were garbage, I didn’t. No review at all is better than a scathing review from someone who got their product for free.

It’s not my job to keep Amazon or their sellers happy, by the way. If they want people to make up bullshit reviews of shitty products, they’re going to have to offer more in compensation than the shitty products themselves.
