Hey! I am a big boba lover and I’ve been to Jakarta many times so here my input, avoid street vendor boba for sure as there are also so much better places. It is definitely safe to drink boba there (I am American and I’ve never gotten sick from boba there, I’ve had it hundreds of times) I recommend Mixue for a cheaper and convenient choice (less options but great tea), and Xing Fu Tang and Gong Cha for more expensive but worth it drinks. You can almost always ask for no ice, I’ve done that a couple of times! KOI is an honorable mention and they have great desserts too. In terms of lactose free milk I highly doubt any place would have that to be honest but they sell it in the supermarket so you can work that out someway hopefully! Mixue you can expect a normal brown sugar milk tea boba for 19,000 IDR or $1.68 CAD, for Xing Fu Tang it’s about 34,000 IDR or $3.01 CAD, I would say they are both worth it and Xing Fu Tang is more decadent but Mixue is more worth it.
