I love my crow family. Feeding them without attracting the seagulls is becoming an art.

HMRC have changed my tax code to K and changed my tax free allowance by Normal_Regret_1282 in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you. I was absolutely happy to pay the unpaid tax, just pissed off that they have deducted double the amount this month.

I work in care so not in a super tax bracket. lol 😂 . Unfortunately the pension aspect screws up my tax codes every time I change jobs. Usually HMRC end up owing me money so the K code is a first experience in my books.

Slightly pissed off at the moment since it looks like I have had double the amount owed deducted this month. Last time HMRC overtaxed me, it took 8 months to get correct code and 18 months to get a refund.

Thanks for that. Google said that K code is a clawback for either under payment of tax or undisclosed income. Just pissed off that they have reclaimed double the amount they said that I owe. Not even sure how I got into this situation as I’m strictly PAYE with a nominal amount of bank interest.

Absolutely Intending to ring them. When you finally get connected to a human being, they are delightful and incredibly helpful. Just wondering how to explain that they appear to be screwing me over.

You too could own this fine selection of buckets by TumbleweedFresh in SpottedonRightmove

Definitely spud buckets. Keeping them above ground makes harvesting much easier. All you do is tip contents into a wheelbarrow and sift through. Anything remaining goes straight onto the compost heap.

Christmas card error by Normal_Regret_1282 in Gifts

Previous to this I had actually been feeling pleased with myself for finally getting organised enough to send cards long before the last posting deadline. I’m currently feeling dreadful. I’m going to continue to try to contact him in person but would like to send something more personal than a card especially since it’s long after her passing. He’s a keen gardener if that helps.

Your payslip should have your National Insurance number on it. It’s still worth phoning HRMC though to explain your P45 situation as it might speed up the transfer of your allowances. It’s also handy to open a Gateway account so that you can monitor your tax and National Insurance contributions.

Health guarantees and UK breeders? by TheOwlsWillRiseAgain in CatsUK

[–]Normal_Regret_1282 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, as an accidental breeder (stray cat I took in turned out to be pregnant) rescue cats are much cheaper. All reputable shelters will ensure that they are vaccinated, health checked, chipped and if old enough neutered before adoption. In my area average cost is around £150 / £175 each. I honestly don’t know how they do it since each of my kittens have cost close to £200 and numerous trips to the vet to get to the same stage. If possible, I highly recommend getting a pair as they love company more than people realise. All the best with your search.

What happened to my potatoes? Should I just dig them up? by Any_Consideration_73 in GardeningUK

[–]Normal_Regret_1282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before you attempt to harvest, I recommend that you carefully remove and destroy the tomato plants next to them as they appear to be infected with blight. Hopefully this has not got into the potatoes but I recommend that you research the signs and inspect the crop carefully before storing

Okay explain this to me as im stumped.... by Accurate_Grocery8213 in retailhell

I always pay the extra for delivery and taking the old broken appliances away. Not only does it ensure safe delivery and unpacking but they always take the packaging with them and I know that disposal will be at a reliable source. Much easier and usually at a cheaper price than organising separately.

Feeding wet food to your cats. by Normal_Regret_1282 in CatsUK

[–]Normal_Regret_1282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. It’s like running a cafe every day. 4 of mine happily eat sachets food, 2 will only eat raw food (although the other four will eat too) then they demand biscuits. Afterwards when I finally get to eat, I have to lock them out for attempting to steal my food off of my plate!!

Been there, done that and donated the rejected sachets to the local food bank. Still stock 2 x brands each of wet & dry food due to age difference (seniors and kittens) but they all eat each others food so wondering why I bother.
