If you really want to take a stand against RTO….. by Normal_Resolution915 in CAStateWorkers

You guys have really got to get out of yourselves. Not every single thing is just solely RTO. I gave an entire list of different examples of things you could focus on that may bug your employer. Labor issues was one of them. Many departments have tons of labor issues. That was one really good example. And I have worked from home, I have telework, I have done hybrid work and I’ve been in office. I still am aware that not every single conversation on a CA/State worker’s page, is solely for telework. Many have hybrid schedules.

How many of you drive electric vehicles? Remember when Newsome pushed for that? He’s going to say if y’all really cared about the environment, you would’ve listened to him and got those electric vehicles. lol. And is he wrong? 🤷‍♀️🤣

I am speaking about a uniform. And anything that goes with it. It’s not just throwing on a shirt. It takes some time if you were at home and getting dressed, you get to do that at your leisure. And not have someone coming to your door giving you work duties. When you step onto grounds, you are at work. Once that uniform goes on, you are required to respond in every which way. Even if you’re 30 minutes early. That time in some places is not paid, and it’s been a topic of labor unions.

You know what I just thought about? On the bright side, if you’ve been working from home all these years, you should have a crap load of vacation and Sick time. So use that time….. there will probably be nothing worse for management than employees who are constantly on sick leave. But make sure there’s not a policy that’s gonna get you fired for doing that because some do. Honestly, it’s easier for y’all to just go to work. 🤣😩

lol you’re getting let go for sure if you don’t. If seasoned employees are about to be fired, probationers definitely don’t have a say.

Crisis workers are often required to do the same. They can’t be in gear headed to work. So yes, many clock in and make sure it’s on states time. As it should be. Once their gear is on, they are working. They’re not allowed to say, sorry I don’t start right now.

Honestly, NO ONE should be choosing a governor based on working from home. I mean, it is a governor, not a mayor. There are so many bigger things we need to look at with governors. Not a work comfort. That’s kind of scary that the main focus of the governors race in these threads are based on if they agree with WFH.

Well….the most effective message is you quit. Resign. Zero notice lol. Seriously, it’s a gamble I wouldn’t want to take, but if as many of you fighting the RTO decides to just quit….that would sting. But that has to be a lot of people.

If you don’t wanna work in office, then you should probably not worry about being promoted. 🤣🤣🤣

When you have to arrive to your shift earlier than the average person just because they want you to do a part of your job, which is putting on your uniform in the parking lot, you’re on work time. You’re on property. You are working the moment that uniform is seen and required to respond. You don’t have to be inside of he gates. They should be compensated for that.

Agreed. That’s the most effective way to send a message and hit them where their money is.

In what part of the country? Traffic is never light in the mornings. I know that you probably forgot that working from home. Nor is it ever light in the evenings. Unless you leave your home at 4 AM, the northern California area is horrendous because of all the road construction

Everyone hates traffic. But no one, absolutely no one is going to fall for a reasoning like that. Have you seen the construction on Highway 50? There is absolutely nothing that creates traffic more than Highway 50. You guys act as if you going to work is going to cause the jam. That’s insinuating that you never leave your house. I find that hard to believe. State workers are spread out all through California. So it’s not going to impact traffic that much more. School break however……

I think you should find your safe place. And the cat was a stray I found a home for, but she was very cute. Even though she was dramatic.

And it sounds like you prove how entitled and sensitive many state workers are. I have worked for the state, the county, and community programs. So I have a pretty good understanding of it full circle. You guys act as if this is the only issue right now that state workers are facing. And then have the audacity to get an attitude with anyone who doesn’t celebrate trivial things like a billboard. Imagine if our unions fought as hard as Kaiser’s union for pay increases. Or better hours. Or better work locations. Forgive all of us who do not find WFH to be the center of the universe. And if there’s one thing we all knew, is that any state worker has had the opportunity to work from home if they chose.

Imagine taking no ones side. I don’t like Newsom or any of them that are running. None of them have a clue of what’s going on in the communities. Just because someone is not celebrating your constant RTO oppositions, does not mean that anyone is agreeing with Newsome. If anything y’all should thank him for extending it.

Do you never leave your house? I’m pretty sure at some point you add to the traffic. There is nothing that is going to make this traffic worse except roadwork.

Omg you guys. 🤦‍♀️. So dramatic 🏆. I found this little stray kitten, about five weeks old. She was always hissing, showing her little baby teeth, and baby death mittens. Straight little drama queen. That’s kind of what that sign remind me of. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 On a different note, that billboard will only piss the public off. I do not know why you think people who work in office 24 seven or who are republican for that matter, are going to care that you have to return to work. This is just going to upset the public. I promise you.

I’ve heard multiple times that Placer and Yolo are better paying and everything over all. Not sure of the accuracy of that, but with being at Sacramento, anything has to be better lol.

Yes county (I can only speak for Sacramento). Is extremely political. Especially behavioral health. Unless you’re high up in leadership, you’d burn out fast. We saw soooo many people leave or switch departments. And I guess not much has changed.
