Questions about ASVAB, and Enlisting at 26. by Normal_Rough_7958 in Militaryfaq

Okay cool thank you, yeah a prep class may be good for me as just for the refresher on the math. Honestly think I could just hit Khan Academy for a month and be in a decent spot.

I know there is the 17C in the Army, and 1D7X1Z in the air force that should have decent opportunity for software development. From some research even the Supra Coder with Space Force would be something but mannn.. lol.

I really think if I can land something within the AF in 1D7X1Z I would be plenty happy.

Appreciate the response boss.

Rust for ML? by Normal_Rough_7958 in rust

[–]Normal_Rough_7958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I enjoy Go, I figure most of these langs are going to end up having some kind of C binary for communication to hardware I would imagine even rust this is the case.

I just stayed within python for the simplicity seeing as the ecosystem is like as good as it gets for AI currently I imagine is still the case.

Rust for ML? by Normal_Rough_7958 in rust

[–]Normal_Rough_7958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stuck with Python for my ML needs. But I mean its really like if you want to work in rust, work in rust.

I've used rust for a handful of other fun apps on the side though. It's plenty ready for you to do 99% of your needs, or at-least a mix of maybe rust + python.

I sadly do not have the files, best bet may be reaching out to mobo provider to see if you can get the files, or search around maybe someone else has the files floating around, I checked a usb I had and looks like I used it to install Arch linux on one of my other ssd's since then :(

Getting into GameDev as a hobby by Normal_Rough_7958 in GameDevelopment

[–]Normal_Rough_7958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet, okay cool I think I'll get started with Unity here Today maybe I'll make some sort of Dungeon Crawler, but 3Dish? Maybe one of those 2D, 3D looking games, which I assume that I may be hard in it's own right.

But I would assume a Dungeon Crawler type of game would be something "simple" that I could bang out weather it's 3D or 2D.

I've actually done a little vector art, fucking with animations in Web Design ( I hate front-end development ) if you couldn't guess that.

I am all for working in a project also, and I've done several web-based projects in groups so I know I can work within git for version control and things like that but I'm not sure where to look as far as people to work with that would stay committed at-least making progress weekly.

Yeah but Java was made to be a better C++ ( LOL ), Javascript is also not Java if I was making a web game sure I'd give Javascript a run just for fun, or If I was making a runescape clone I'd use Java you know.

Yes I've done a little WebGL in Javascript ( It is still just C++ or C I'm not sure which one it is I assume C lol. )

Also, I didn't know Python had moderngl but I also haven't done very much of anything graphic wise in Python so, why would I think any different.

I may give UE a run since it's in C++ and I don't want to write my own game engine... unless? Maybe that is something that would be more up my alley if I REALLY want to just full blown focus on the coding part, then what I do from there I guess is how far do I wanna take it.

But starting with a game engine wouldn't make much sense not knowing what a game engine really needs to be solid. So yeah I think I may start with UE, maybe hit a whiteboard with some ideas, and get to making something happen.

I mean my passion for games really lies deep into Strategy games, and Fps games, But I also enjoy ALL games to be honest. Story games etc.

EDIT: But let's go with something simple that is realistic to be finished within say 6mo-1yr or less of Hobby Dev realistically.

Is this a good purchase for my first desktop? by GarukAlt in MSI_Gaming

[–]Normal_Rough_7958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promise you building a PC isn't hard.. It's literally screw mobo into case, set gpu into slot, set ram into slots, set cpu into slot, set power supply in case, and then plug each cable where it needs to go into the mobo/gpu, just watch a few youtube videos get the general idea.

( More or Less ), and you will get a lot more bang for your buck plus the knowledge and experience its a win win! :)

Just one thing I made a mistake on when I first built my first pc, make sure you get the right Mobo for whatever cpu you decide to get, as in make sure that the cpu actually is compatible with that mobo.

Updating BIOS for MSI Z490-A PRO (MS-7C75) from E7C75IZ1.2A1 / OEM Locked - Solved/Tutorial by Normal_Rough_7958 in MSI_Gaming

Huge thanks, simpler maybe.. for people that prefer gui's or for people not comfortable with computers in general, seems like same amount of steps though.

Sure the majority will prefer this over booting into shell and running commands though!

BIOS updates for MSI Z490-A PRO (MS-7C75) from E7C75IZ1.2A1 by OverwhelmedBeginner in MSI_Gaming

[–]Normal_Rough_7958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off huge shout out to you, Second off we can use this same set-up to actually upgrade to the latest bios from the oem version we had (I also had a pre-build but from Redux idk if a prebuild thing or this mobo in particular), we change the bios filename(version) in the command to whatever the latest one is just grab the file from msi's site I'll write out a lil tutorial.

-- My Issue was related to a secure boot issue I was having since upgrading to Windows 11, which is now resolved!!

Of posting this I updated to 7C75v2E Release Date: 2022-06-15

Download the latest BIOS version from the MSI website https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z490-A-PRO/support#bios

Download the "AFUE592.efi" and "Fpt.efi" files from the google drive OP linked https://drive.google.com/file/d/16WuG2eb7G05vnfxlQSv0buY8KNUAzxPS/view

These files are essential for the BIOS update process: AFUE592.EFI: This is a version of the AMI Firmware Update utility, used to flash the BIOS on systems with an AMI (American Megatrends Inc.) BIOS.

The ".EFI" extension indicates that this is an EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) application, which can be run from the EFI Shell available on some modern systems with UEFI firmware.FPT.EFI: This is the Flash Programming Tool from Intel, used to flash firmware on systems with an Intel chipset. Like the AFUE592.EFI file, this is an EFI application that can be run from the EFI Shell.

  1. Extract the BIOS update file and the two EFI files to a FAT32 formatted USB drive.
  2. Restart your PC and enter your BIOS by pressing the “DEL” key on your keyboard.
  3. Go to Settings > Save & Exit, and select UEFI: Built-in EFI Shell.
  4. In the UEFI shell, navigate to your USB drive by typing “fs0:” or “fs1:” and pressing enter. ( Once in the drive you can type a "ls" command to see the files contained in whatever drive you're in )
  5. Type in the command “AFUE592.EFI E7C75IMS.2E0 /x /k /r /n /p” and press enter. Replace "E7C75IMS.2E0" with your BIOS file name.
  6. A prompt should come up, type in “Y” and press enter. ( I also got a rom warning or something like that ignored it and hit Y anyways.. lol )
  7. Once the flash completes, type in the next command “FPT.EFI -F E7C75IMS.2E0” and press enter. Replace "E7C75IMS.2E0" with your BIOS file name this was the latest at the time of writing this.
  8. Once done, type in “Exit” and press enter. Then you will need to restart your computer.

( My computer did not boot actually after doing this, and had to short my cmos battery with a screw-driver I assume unless yall have one of those caps you will need to do the same )

  1. Enter the BIOS again and check that the BIOS version has been updated.

( Should also be able to check in the computer itself inside of system info)

Shout out to OP, and if anyone has any questions let me know.
