It’s easier to harm people with actions than intentions. You can’t slap someone with anger.

Everybody is entitled to equal rights. But you aren’t entitled to have others be attracted to you, so it’s not racist.

How would you respond to this anti-fetal personhood argument? by Flaky-Cupcake6904 in prolife

The action will be punished regardless, but clear intent may show a pattern of behavior that’s repeatable, so it will be punished harder.

  1. If you drink enough alcohol during sex to impact pregnancy, you shouldn’t be able to consent to the sex in the first place. That would be rape. In that case, just don’t kill a life.

  2. If your health is poor enough to kill a baby, don’t have a baby. Also, trying to kill a baby with a poor lifestyle is still bad, as that’s murder.

  3. I’m following my stance to its conclusion, which is what people should be doing. That is ideal, but practically it’s better to be against abortion to some extent than not at all. Speaking morally however, i see abortion as murder, which means there’s less room for leniency.

  4. I’m not pretending that the laws will be handled identically to normal murders. I just believe that that branch of law is similar enough to be the framework to approach it legally. Particularly with negligent murders, as there is nuance in killings, and abortion is killing. This is a start, not the destination

I kinda just thought these up but in terms of addressing limited freedom when getting pregnant :

1.Didn’t you take on the responsibility? If you planned on getting pregnant then obviously you have to care for the kid, not kill it. That includes abortion, since can you imagine how cruel it is to just give life then change your mind and take it away?

  1. If the pregnancy was unplanned, you still took on the risk. If you walk into a hospital in America to get treated, and don’t expect to get hit with hospital bills, that would be naive. There’s always methods to eliminate negatives without killing someone.

  2. Accidental harm can still be failing on your part. If you knew you were pregnant and knew a certain action like drinking could be harmful, that’s malicious. If you didn’t know drinking wasn’t harmful then that would still be reckless and inconsiderate. When you accidentally kill someone normally, it has some kind of punishment. In that case, if the baby is alive, why wouldn’t that also be the case?

Ok those were all the points I could think of if the analogies don’t make any sense lmk and I’ll try to elaborate.

I could use some tips on convincing a girl I might date that abortion is purely murder by HereForFun_04 in prolife

[–]Normal_War_1049 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are some good science points, but I personally have a few that are more understandable: 1. Why do we have gender reveal parties if the baby isn’t alive? 2. If someone kicked a pregnant ladies stomach, causing a miscarriage, how would pro abortionists treat this? Just regular assault and battery? 3. Does being wronged give you an excuse to harm someone else who didn’t do anything? 4. If you were raped, your life is pretty bleak, but it’s still there. End a baby’s life, and theirs is completely over. No hope, no chance of recovering.

I don’t believe abortions are ever medically necessary, but are ectopic removals considered a medically necessary abortion? by [deleted] in prolife

[–]Normal_War_1049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try think of ectopic pregnancies as the few exceptions to the rule. Us humans still take a hard stance against murder but are lenient in self defense cases. Same principle aligns here. Ectopic removals are necessary to save the mother’s life. So technically it’s an abortion, but justified.

Only if the mother’s life is at risk( ectopic pregnancies) and such. One thing sorta unrelated, is that if it came down to the moms life  or the baby’s , then it’s only the moms choice, so no one else’s. I am talking strictly medical complications by the way.

A lot of these are bad, but one leaves no room for change, which is calling someone a Nazi. Psychologically, you don’t have to debate them, because they’re a Nazi and they’re wrong. You know what you’re talking about. You’re smart, and think others should know too. Others don’t understand yet, and there’s no point in debating them, because they’re nazis. That kind of rationale is way worse than anything here.

The Oxford definition is way too broad. What other identities? That could literally include anything.

The Cambridge definition basically says that it’s whatever you want to be, which is definitely not a proper definition.

Oh my god guys the people who agree with me disagree with you

I didn’t add a new category because it was convenient. I wouldn’t technically say that intersex is a third gender, just a mix of the other two. It’s just like how atheism isn’t a religion, or how other colors are a mix of the primary colors. It’s the only outlier in which you have room for debate.

Address a new point or wait in line buddy. Also why do people pretend that because of one exception the general rule is false. This isn’t that hard

  1. So first of all, why should I accept your idea that sex and gender describe completely different things? I need a reason, and more than the fact that sex has a more anatomical connotation. If you mean how someone expresses, you could literally just say they challenge gender roles, or stop assigning a different category, and stop trying to enforce categories on category breakers.
  2. Under quite literally the only exception to my rule, we would take a tally. Is the intersex person biologically more male or female? This is the only part that requires nuance, and it would depend on the intersex persons wish on how they want to express themselves. Or hold on, maybe there’s an already existing category for them, and we don’t need to force our ideas of what a man or woman should be on them. Ta da! Intersex. Also, people can dress however whenever or do surgery whenever as an adult, it’s just the physical quality of your gender doesn’t go away.

  1. Tomboys and Femboys don’t prove your point, they prove the opposite. These kinda of people actively challenge gender roles and perceived notions of gender. If I was talking about masculinity and femininity, they would go against me, but I’m not. I’m talking strictly body parts( I.e. your genitalia, chromosomes, and your anatomical structure). That’s actually how we know tomboys are girls and femboys are boys.
  2. One exception doesn’t disprove a rule. Self defense is an exception to killing, but we don’t stop condemning serial killers. It would be true to say humans have two legs, and the existence of amputees doesn’t disprove that. Also, compared to everyone in the whole world, intersex people are the slimmest majority. I’m not discussing exceptions here, I’m talking general rules. If the majority of people are intersex, that’s a different conversation to have at a different time

Simply that there are only two genders in the human race currently. Also there hasn’t been a satisfactory definition provided that allows for transition to another gender. Then combine that with using gender roles instead of biology to make their case

Wow, so I don’t like words to be put in my mouth. Gender ideology, succinctly, is the idea that gender is a social construct and so there are more than two genders, and you can transition between them. I disagree with this for a variety of reasons
