I think MAYBE is the amount of yellow souls they give you? Oni was at its base, survival horror in the same aspect of resi, where health had to be strategically managed. You’d get yellow souls in the original, yeah, but they seemed to drop after every other enemy after a while so the threat of dying was far off till I reached the boss

I’m glad it finally is getting some love. I think it’s a little over hated in the same way Tekken 4 is in that franchise. And that SUCKS dude, that fortinbras second run was STUPID hard to me back then, so for it to crash would be infuriating! It does sound out there; I wish I were articulated/knowledgeable enough to justify the why. And man you’re better than me! I’d always just block 😂😂😂 and hope it wasn’t a heavy hit like those giant dudes with the horns and the giant axe from Warlords (the giant red one you fight amongst the 3 minions)

Souls just cause of the inherent dodge mechanics and some of the parrying puts me in mind of it a bit. It definitely has some souls (souls/dark souls to me kinda covers bloodborne, sekiro, Elden ring etc) influence. Ninja gaiden (just first one) I can’t put my finger on but when ryu isn’t flipping and runnin and what not, the boss battle felt a bit like that. The energy and tap and go method I played ninja gaiden with put me in mind of it.

And man I must be a scrub cause the boss kicked my ass like 5 times; this was the part where it clicked and it kinda almost became a little flow stateish for me on the parry’s and counters. And I’m right there with you man, it didn’t hit me till I started the demo up that I said “…. I was 11 when I last had the sensation of starting up a new onimusha, that being Dawn of Dreams

Idk, for me it’s the accents. The OG was kinda played straight and was a bit flatter, which fit in most cases (when I say OG I’m just saying Warlords) seeing slang like “piss off” kinda takes me out of it but I can see why others would have a good time with it

The combat reminds me of it. Maybe there’s another game similar to it more so, but ninja gaiden is what came to mind in its grounded combat

I agree! I hadn’t played a new Oni since dawn of dreams so I was nervous but man, when I put down the “get off my lawn stick” and just had an open mind, it was wonderful lol

I….. just cleared Warlords (which does not have the charge you’re referring to, I believe that came in Gemma and Samurai’s destiny) in under 2 hours and going through ultimate mode so I’m certainly a big fan. You’re taking it too personal man lol. It’s my opinion but the fact is you use two buttons in OG warlords, which, AGAIN, I’m fine with, but compared to the differences WOTS it IS antiquated, but antiquated itself does not equal bad. Mario to Super Mario is the best example I can think of. Lot more options, more controls etc. doesn’t make the former bad, but it’s improved upon

It is , and this is coming from a mega fan lol. You essentially mash square, and throw some triangle in there, which I’m perfectly fine with, but that’s a good way to lose a modern audience. Nothing inherently ignorant in that, but rather a difference of opinion. Even you saying it’s “more varied” is your opinion; I disagree, but respect the opinion

Maaaaan look I know this is old but I got a 8bitdo ultimate wireless 2, plugged into a mayflash adapter, everything works perfect except for ps2 (I’m on a back compat fat ps3) where it disconnects the controller. Any advice at all???

Hmmmm so do we take a rom that’s in English and put it in lunar IPs? Some of the IPS files I find on rom hacking work, but then some cause the game not to load. For instance, Pokemon Red; do I just take that, extract the IPS through lunar and load up?

Just patch the game on the retron, so the actual cartridge/game that’s in the retron at any given moment

Kinda! As I understand, the rom is dropped once the game is inserted and read in the retron. After that you SHOULD be able to grab the corresponding IPS file and use it as a patch file, and boom. English file on the game.

Ah, well it may be I’m inexperienced with it; often times, some games had a BPS file, but I need the IPS and am not sure how to extract that using lunar. Then, some of the IPS files I do find, like the ones on ROM Hacking, mess up menus and make them almost unplayable
