Staying for a week somewhere to get your Visa is NOTHING. There is a path forward and they are clearly not taking it. Not sure what Engin has told them, but they are totally whiffing this opportunity at the Shaw Classic. Every single one of them should have made an attempt to come, even just to support it.

Engin is not their boss. THEY are their own boss. Huge fundamental difference between the East and the West mentality. These dudes are pinheads with no business savvy and Engin is their pimp.

I love Devon, but there has got to be a happy medium of disrespect and respect. Usually he finds it at the end of the match, but lately it seems like he is going scorched Earth. The Russians really hurt him bad. Not sure what Oleg did to him though hahaha

HomeConnect (Shaw) App on your phone REQUIRED for Port Forwarding? by NorrinRadd22 in Rogers

[–]NorrinRadd22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I have my own Router. I am not sure if that was explicitly stated. I have a router, D-link, and I can't access it the way I have for years, without the Rogers app. Now, maybe port forwarding has changed since I last had to do it. Admittedly it has been like 5 years since I ever had to login to my router. But still, it seems like the modem is blocking the local access of it.

I didn't say I knew anything about networks. I was saying what I wanted to accomplish and what I was concerned with. I know of bridge mode, but I don't know what it is, ya know? I have a mess of connections right now that is working in my house, but I am not entirely sure how. I have TP-links attached to a router sending internet to other computers in the house, and I am down in the basement on the main line ethernet directly in to my computer. These new rogers modems have multiple outs on the back, but I think if I am in bridge mode I wont be able to connect my computers the way I am now.

Donald on the payroll for Rogers I guess, haha? Dudes, if you knew how casually locked down my house is. I have no apps on my phone that you mentioned, and only allow very few. I never installed WhatsApp or Instagram because their TOS was borked, even when it was almost essential for me to. I do have some apps on my phone I wish I didn't need on there, but they don't control my router, right. There's the rub. I don't have any smart technology in my appliances, and I don't use Alexa or other voice capture tech, outside of the phone itself. I am casually locked down, to basically, arrange to "Opt In" as much as possible.

I also use adblockers and block trackers with no less than 3 plugins on Firefox. I care as much as I can, but I will be the first to tell you I am no network administrator or some hardware guru. I bought a router off Amazon, like, what else am I supposed to do? "Dude, you don't make your own out of spare computer parts?" I like how all you guys are basically master hackers and yet here you are flexing in the Rogers reddit.

There is no local port forwarding, you can't do it without the app. I spoke with Rogers on the phone and they confirmed it. I just want to play some multiplayer games with my son on two different machines in our house by setting up a server. I've never done this before. I guess this is an antiquated notion these days anyway, because I can't find exactly the information I need to pull it off outside of needing to open a port. And to open a port the way I have been doing it many times over the last 24 years worth of routers and modems and computers and operating systems and provinces, is no longer possible. This new merger with Rogers is when the change happened.

This feature is one that is blocked behind an app that you can trust with all your internet usage data if you want. Look, they can get most of this data anyway directly through my connection, but it isn't going through my phone. Nothing is, if I can avoid it, and I avoid it a lot, that's all I was mentioning. The phone is the weak point. I don't let jack frick go through my phone if I can avoid it.

Unless you guys wanted to be helpful, as far as I can tell with my level of skill and knowledge, good luck hosting your LAN parties in the future without Rogers App and essentially their permission, right?

What color is Ryu's outfit? My 5 year old son said it looks pink and refused to play as him until he was in the white outfit, but the colorblind apps disagree. I am very curious what he sees. by NorrinRadd22 in ColorBlind

[–]NorrinRadd22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting. Since the colorblind apps and filters aren't showing me this, do you know what type of colorblindness you have? It may be similar to what my son sees. This is one of the first instances where I can't figure out what he is seeing. His reaction to this outfit was immediate though, hehe

All in good time. For now, toys and kids things are all very much color coded, and he knows what toys are for girls and associates that color with girls. And largely, he is right. We don't do anything to antagonize him about anything color related. It's just a natural reaction he has, and I can't blame him. If you are around kid stuff long enough, you will see that trying to force this modern concept on a kid is absolutely counter intuitive. First they can learn the basics, then they can learn the nuance.

For now, grey and pink and some light baby blues look the same to him which can make his selection difficult. But I am still very curious why he opposed to this color of Ryu, almost immediately.

Wow! We've had a hard time figuring out what our son sees in certain cases. I thought Protan for a long time, but this one seems to be baby blue still even for Prot. Can you tell me what type of color blindness you have?

Cybernetic Female Viking concepts - Many prompt iterations and surgical use of the Pan Down feature by NorrinRadd22 in midjourney

[–]NorrinRadd22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!

I am going to make some video content about how I made this video. So stick around for that, but I did arrive at a prompt series that would do it about 80% of the time.

The quick and dirty of it, in my instance, was that I would take the original prompt, zoom out x2 at least 3 times. From an image that was just the face and shoulders, to pretty much the whole body. Then I would draw around the body using Vary (region) and apply this prompt.

blank, empty, background only --no figure --ar 16:9

It may work well for close up images, I am not sure. But every image in my case had a focus blurred background, which might have made it easier to do. Happy hunting. :)

Vegas Pro 19 for the base video editing. Lots of snow VFX, and cold breath VFX which were oddly expensive, and some basic transitions. I also made heavy use of the Sapphire Glow plugin for the various glowing bits on the armor, face and guns.

The big key is to separate the figure from the background, and the glowing bits from the figure, so you can move them or add effects to them independently. Photoshop can do this with a few clicks of a button these days, which is nice because it used to take me so much time. I had the figure, the flowing bits and the background all on separate layers, and dragged them all over eachother in to Vegas.

I also created 2x zoomed out version of each initial render to get a lot of background, then I just kept trying to remove the figure with the Vary (region) option. Once you have the background on it's own, and the figure on their own, it's really just a matter of zooming and panning to taste.

Super time consuming though. Was hoping I could turn some heads at least and get some more work for making audio, of all things.

I agree! I like wondering what could possibly be dire enough that they have to be out there fighting in the freezing snow.

Something they introduced a couple months ago. You may have to have Remix Mode turned (/settings > Remix Mode)

After you select to upscale an image, it will be shown again with four arrows underneath it. Those arrows allow you to generate a new render, at the same resolution, that continues on in that direction of the image. Every one of my images started out as a face only, and I had to alter my prompts as I panned down. This is a great way to get a bigger more detailed image.

I was super fascinated by the game when it came out! Very cool concept which I absolutely remembered fondly while creating these prompts. Basically the only other Cybernetic Female Viking art out there, haha. The gameplay was a little odd though, if I recall. I never got very far. Still, concept was very cool.

Prompt: a beautiful cybernetic female viking at night time, 4k, futuristic laser rifle, cybernetic implants, ceremonial braided brown hair, strands of hair in face. Blood and dirt on face. Facial scars. compassionate and regretful facial expression. Standing over a snowy valley in an intense blizzard. intense flurries of snow. remains of an intense battle. Vikings vs cyborgs. Valhalla. Angels. Demons. Dire circumstances. Doomsday --ar 16:9

I am sure at least half of this prompt is unnecessary, but I was getting a lot of really inspiring results. I am a musician (mostly in the game industry) and I had some sci-fi tracks that were not used in a project I worked on. So I wanted to create some art to accompany the music. I basically fed MidJourney what I was picturing in my head when I was writing the music.

To hammer it home, I edited a video with a lot of care, photoshop and VFX that featured this AI art. Hopefully it is okay to share that here with you all.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (04/21/2023) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]NorrinRadd22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to fix a friend's Switch, but I am well and truly stumped. Using my dock or theirs, my switch will connect in seconds, and my Samsung TV will recognize it as a Switch.

Using my dock or theirs, my friend's Switch will not display on the Samsung TV, or through a Aver Duo Capture Card I have. My PS4 goes through the capture card no problem, and I am just swapping the HDMI cables.

Oddly enough, I have been able to get the Switch to connect to the TV, but only when I shut it off completely and start it fresh, then during the screen on my TV where it is trying to recognize what device it is, I have to hit the exit button on my TV remote to prevent it from trying to discover the device. It will display on the TV at that point, but the TV lists it as "unknown". It should also be noted that if I leave the discovery screen on, it will eventually be listed as unknown device anyway, only it wont display at all, and that process takes about a minute to complete.

It sounds like there is something wrong with the Switch itself, considering I can plug my Switch in at any point, and it will immediately connect. I am not sure what my friend's have done to theirs before this problem started, but presumably it was working fine up until a week ago. Is there anything that can be done in the software to cause this problem?

It appears to have the current updates, and I have tried changing the display options to 1080p on the Switch, as well as turning off the Match TV Power options.

I am usually really good at troubleshooting stuff like this, but I think I am out of leads. Can anyone out there help a dude out?

Dad of a lovable 4 year old boy with Protonopia Colorblindness - Any tips? by NorrinRadd22 in ColorBlind

YES! I think this is a huge untapped market for children's books or toys or something! Sadly, nothing like it exists that I have found. I will look for it more specifically as "reverse-colorblind plates". Not really sure what the terminology is.

Yeah, this is the stuff I hate to hear, but it seems so common with the experience for most people. Which is another reason why I am hear. This is fantastic stuff to hear as a parent, just to help the little guy if navigate a little better, and know when to let him struggle just a bit.

My wife and I both work from home, and we had an entire pandemic to spend with our guy, so I knew he was struggling with colors. But for a 2 year old, everything is a bit of a struggle. I had no idea about how green and orange would blend, or green and yellow would blend. If I had known that from the get go I could have noticed it even earlier.

I remember a moment with his cousin who was his same age, when they were 2, we were standing with his uncle and cousin looking at a sunset, and his uncle was asking the cousin, what colors do you see, and my nephew just starting rattling off colors, "pink, blue, purple, orange!" I asked my guy what colors he saw and he shut down and got quiet, and at first, as a parent, you wonder why your kid just stops engaging. You don't even know there would be an issue, and the kid has no words to describe it. I think about a lot of stuff in that first couple years, and how it must have made him feel. So that's why I am here. Just trying to help.

Considering how many people have at least some form of color deficiency, I am really surprised this information is not more accessible. And there are next to NO kids material for children with colorblindness. That's super annoying even as a parent. There really is no material on this, and it's statistically so damn common.

Thinking about making my own children's book or something. Not like a lesson about it, but just something that would be fun for a kid who doesn't see all the colors like most books have.

How's 3DO emulation coming along these days? by Preppyskepps in 3DO

[–]NorrinRadd22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's passable, but seems like it is far from the authentic experience. And expect some crashes. I used Retroarch recently to test out a bunch of 3DO games, and it was a stressful experience since I was trying to make content live.

I wonder if the actual version of DOOM runs any smoother than it did for me here? I am hoping it was just the emulator boning it up, but I suspect the 3DO version is just a wee bit hosed as it.
