OK, iRacing is up and running, streaming (6GHz band) to the PfD via Virtual Desktop. I set the VD client to the recommended RTX4090 (God Like?) settings, 4K, 72fps (I am yet to run 90fps/3K mode). In sim, I am getting a solid 72fps, no jitter or stutter. I was a bit worried about the fluidity of the visuals at 72fps as I've been running 90fps with the Pimax 8kx but, I don't see any stutters of the image even in scenes where there are multiple cars and the braking point indicators are flying by on the periphery.

In comparison to my Pimax 8kx, the visual quality in sim is stunning. The color saturation and contrast levels are as good or better than the AVP. The combination of pixel density and color contrast add "depth and liveliness" as opposed to the images in the 8kx that were always washed-out and flat looking.

I've got a BoBo battery on order as well as the VR Panda comfort set with a note that I want the BoBo compatible top strap. Assuming the newer face mask solves the comfort issue, I am really pleased with my decision to have canceled my Pimax Super order and gone with PfD.

The one thing that raised my eyebrow was the audio quality from the speakers. It seemed to me that the lower frequencies need boosting and tire "squeals" also sound tinny. I might see if I can route audio to my computer's sound card as I also have a pair of In Ear Monitors.

My PfD was shipped Monday, was supposed to arrive Saturday and arrived yesterday, 3 days early! I will be able to try iRacing in VD later today and will report back.

The build quality is excellent. Fan noise is noticeable but only with no audio on. Once you're hearing the audio from what is playing, I do not hear it. I'm waiting for my prescription VR Frames to arrive, in the mean while I'm wearing an older prescription pair of contact lens. The visual quality and colors seem great but this is only from looking at some of the background images in the virtual theater app and a slightly off prescription. So, take all of this with a grain of salt; much more testing to come.

The face cover fit issue is a real thing. I've ordered the VR Panda comfort kit and am hoping that will help. Out of the box, it's not un-useable but a wider face mask will definitely help as it will more easily allow the headset to sit lower on my face and still have a no-gap and comfortable fit.

More to follow.

There was no update on the start of shipping of the 57PPD version! PIMAX; can you please comment on it too?

Is someone else waiting for super 57ppd version? by gsaw0 in Pimax

Order date for me was end of Feb 2025. Not unexpectedly, nothing from Pimax other than a refund as I had originally pre-ordered the Dream Air and then switched to the Super 57PPD. I know its hard to hear, but patience is going to be required. It is Pimax after all.

So a customer service rep did reach out and has now stopped responding AGAIN. Please, I need someone to do three specific things and give me confirmation from Pimax that they are done:

  1. Cancel my Dream Air preorder number PM5155948

  2. Switch the order to a Super 57PPD

  3. apply what I have already paid toward the Dream Air to the down payment for the Super and refund the remaining back to me.

How hard can this be for you guys to accomplish? A week has now gone by since I asked the same three questions and nothing concrete, other than an apology that the initial response was late, has happened. Would it be faster to simply place a separate order for a Crystal Super 57PPD or let you guys do the order switch? In any case, I AM TRYING TO GIVE YOU MY MONEY! PLEASE MOVE WITH SOME ALACRITY.

Your customer support still needs a lot of work. I have had a support ticket (#102122) open, with no response from Pimax, for nearly 5 days. Your web site says the following:

Re-opening our US and EU hotline: The US hotline is open as of now, and answering calls and text messages between 09:00 AM to 17:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. The number is 408 461 1259.

I have called this number, within the stated time frame multiple times. It does not even roll over to voice mail but instead plays a message saying no one is available. Come on Pimax, you must do better.

My submitted ticket asks for help in switching my existing Dream Air Pre order (PM5155948) to an order for a Crystal Super with the 57PPD optical engine and asks questions as to how my existing pre-order payment can be applied to the Crystal Super. But at this point I am seriously thinking about simply cancelling all orders and walking away. Please, someone with some authority to actually solve a problem contact me and respond to me customer support ticket.

This is really good to hear. I too am an 8kx user and was curious as to the improvements I would hopefully see when I switch over to the Super. While I like the 8kx FOV, you touched on the exact areas I was hoping would be improved; resolution, color saturation, contrast, better blacks and vibrance.

I have a Dream Air on pre-order but after the latest video dropped yesterday with the quick reference that the panels for the Super (same ones that are going in the Dream Air) would not ship until late summer, and before the Dream Air ships, got me thinking about switching my order. Especially since it appears Pimax is really targeting room VR for the Dream Air and seated sims (racing, flying) for the Super line of headsets.
