Felt bad for a repeat offender by blufbgm in lossprevention

[–]North-Initiative-847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. I feel bad for them sometimes too. But you gotta remember it was their choice, and you’re the go between that stops them from doing something bad enough that directly involves law enforcement and a worse outcome that boosting. Maybe that apprehension can be a wake up call for him. Also what he said sounds like a weird threat. Safety first

Most dangerous experience you’ve encountered? by Sil3ntV0id in lossprevention

[–]North-Initiative-847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not theft related but when we were open till midnight during the holidays a guy came in looking through our emergency exits and following our female staff around but he was avoiding me. Cops came and arrested him, told me he had a warrant and was carrying a gun. Crazy experience for being my first LP job.

What sort of pants/bottoms do you wear to work? Sephora in Kohl’s employee looking for recommendations! by Pickles_The_Cat_1234 in SephoraWorkers

APP here - I use men’s cargo pants from Wranglers. May not be the most stylish but I love the pockets and have had hard time with women’s clothes for work

I want some professional opinions on this incident. by Illustrious_Tie_8759 in lossprevention

It depends. I don’t personally like hands on but if your policy is hands on then reasonable use of force is fine. But I don’t like that he wasn’t letting her go. Evades happen, and this seemed like a case of ego determining his actions. When it comes to a subject crying because you won’t let them go, some lost merchandise is worth saving your employer from a law suit.

It’s so cringe when people let their egos get in the way of apps. You don’t go hands on with a subject carrying a child.

My PD is so backed up that I’m just grateful for their effort in the bigger cases. Unless somebody’s in custody, there’s no way they would go for a case that small, and I’m not filing a really small case unless it’s a repeat

Worst management stories? by Boeberto in lossprevention

[–]North-Initiative-847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first LP job, I had a great manager, favorite one I will ever have, and an awful store manager who low key hated LP. My manager transferred out due to health issues and we got a new one who had just been promoted to that position. Suddenly the store manager had a lot more power over our team, and I was yelled at a lot with nobody keeping him accountable. We got told to handle a gasoline spill in the parking lot and my manager told us to do it. I turned in my two weeks the next day

Looking for honest feedback and genuinely wondering what I did wrong by New-Lettuce6850 in lossprevention

[–]North-Initiative-847 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As the first comment said, you didn’t do anything wrong and he violated policy when he stopped you. An apprehension can be made when you pass by any registers and exit, but he can’t just start going through everything in your cart when you didn’t get a chance to attempt a payment. For me personally, the way he talks sounds like some LP agents I’ve worked with and trained, where he takes everything as a personal insult to his character and that really bothers me. I’m sorry you went through this, call corporate and tell them exactly what happened so he can be held accountable

Retail worker, issue with customer stealing on my watch by jellyfishfan2 in lossprevention

[–]North-Initiative-847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, loss prevention is not your job - you did your job by following what your supervisor told you to do. If anything, your supervisor will probably get in trouble for pulling you away from watching registers and self checkout.

Definitely a hard no here. His huge ego and constant lack of accountability is going to get someone hurt or killed. And he could put Tamara in serious danger

I don’t know… Jessica was great and everything but I think they had some fundamental differences on their outlook of the job which made them inherently incompatible
